    Hello & good evening.
I have a 2012 Thruxton & have thought about moving the ignition switch off the headlamp bracket to the usual altered place on the right hand side frame.
My question is this......Is the current wiring long enough for the move???? it doesnt look like it is, so can someone who has attempted this say yay or nay to this please.
    Thanks

Hi Thruccyboy, what a wonderful choice of bike, some people have impeccable taste! I am pondering on the same for myself and will throw this at you: why the right hand side? If you put it on the left it will then be pointing downwards, so to speak, when parked on the side stand thus reducing the chance of water getting in. As for wiring
Look here or here or even here
All conflicting I like the one that puts it up in the instruments but can't see that not needing wire mods! There are also youtubes of how to do it if you put a search in. Any ways get a photo of your Thruxton in the Thruxton thread, let us know how it goes good luck

    Hi crispey,
Thanks for the quality reply. I love my bike so much that in the 3 years Ive owned it it`s only got wet once!!!! She`s reluctant to start unless it`s full sun.....Seriously I will upload a pic soon of her as she is now,& check out the here, here or even here really soon, but for now & to whet your whistle here`s one I did earlier, well about 2 years ago
    regards

Nice, so glad you got rid of that horrible light cluster. When you put some pics up list your mods too.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Not sure how different the wiring might be bewteen the Thruxton and the Bonneville but I did this mod on my T100 and did not need to lengthen/alter any of the wiring. To be fair, I would try what crispey suggests and go for the LH side. Despite being right handed, I never got on with the switch on the RH side and moved it back to where it was after a couple of weeks.

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for your input. It is a popular mod no doubt but if ive got to cut about the wiring then Ill probably give it a miss.
Ill do a bit of guesstimating I think to see if it`s gonna need extending me thinks.

Yes, not sure what I was thinking putting that headlight cowl on, it didnt suit the bike IMO (now)!!
    Ok.....Now for the mods.
Fender eliminator, LED tail-light,Bike it indicators, polished headlight brackets, polished speedo/rev counter surrounds, stainless steel clock surrounds, Norman Hyde rear sets, Motodemic LED headlight (USA)
Id include some more pics but the files are too big, will take some on reduced MB`s & post

Ok, Created an album now, so most of the recent pics are there. Apart from that Ive replaced the front mudguard with the original red one as it sets off the headlight better.

teejay I put a lucas 525 fender kit from square deals, fitting here but ended up with just a number plate bracket with led tail light and indicator bracket, cant stand the light cluster so had to replace it got it from here. don't forget you will have to get decent indicators too. if you look at my album there are pics of all 3 configs

    Hi Teejay
I purchased my fender eliminator from ebay (PW864) (search thriumph thruxton fender eliminator or search for pw864...) plug & play fitting makes it easy to fit & 2 years on it still looks the biz, the quality is very good, so much so that I purchased other items from him including rear indicator relocation brackets & front indicator relocation brackets + a regulator relocation bracket & last but not least these rather smart stainless steelclock surrounds. Nothing thats good quality is cheap, but they really sort out the front end & get away from those cheap plastic looking surrounds.
With regards to indicators some halogen indicators wont work at the correct flash rate as the triumph bulbs if my memory serves me correct are 10w & most bike ones are 21w.....I think!!! however to get over this "squaredeals" did an indicator relay which allows you to use any wattage or mix of bulbs i:e LED & incandescent on the same circuit & cleverly works out the correct flash rate....Be WARNED though as I nearly found out to my cost that if a bulb blows you do not get the usual fast flashing rate associated with a blown bulb as the relay takes up the slack in wattage drop. I approached a roundabout going off at 3 oclock & as I turned the car coming the other way thought I was going straight on as no front indicator was showing & nearly t-boned me & my lovely thruccy at about 30mph!!!!
