Are you too into racing vintage road bikes?? I am, and it's great fun with the rapid growth of events as the worldwide Eroicas. Like the Eroica Britannia in The Peak District, where I entered the 100 mile race a few years ago. Requirements are steel frames, toe straps and shifters on the downtube. My 1982 Gitane did well in TdF that year. I'd hate to damage it in a crash like yours, but if I don't, it's not because of my lack of trying.

Sandi T Mr Steve and Canine Annie.
Bit late now so no time to look for pictures all I want is bed. Been around my boys most of the night working on my 675. He has a garage full of 675 bikes and bits could hardly move for them the boy has become a collector. Wondered when my bike wouldn't start he probably want to add it to his collection. But he blamed it on a duff battery and I will take his word for it.. But how is our top Lady today. Do you use those silly straps on your feet as I think they are dangerous.
Love And Brotherly Hugs across the Pond to You Steve & Annie.
    Joe.

Happy you managed to get up to use the bathroom, understand the emotions :sob: as it is very hard being immobile after not being able to sit still.
Love your mug and send good healing vibes from down under.
Big ups to Mr Sandi for being your rock. Watching your healing and wishing to well

@Erling, that's a sweet Gitane bicycle! Definitely do not crash that bike – both for its and your sake. I'll have to look up that race that you did a few years back.

Although I said my bicycle is an older bike, it's definitely not vintage! I think it's about 12 years old or so. It's a Holland--built by a terrific custom frame builder outside of San Diego named Bill Holland. The frame is a combination of carbon and titanium. Some of the guys I know from the cycling world say I should get an updated frame, but I absolutely love my Holland and I'm hoping that it will last me until I don't ride bicycles anymore. Which, if I crash again, won't be long. ;) But that's not the plan. I'd like to ride both bicycles and motorcycles until I can barely get my leg over them and hopefully that's a long way down the road.

Mmm, the fritter looks delicious Sandi, I've a sweet tooth and no off button when it comes to cake and pastries, I did notice the four candle (British joke) looks slightly twisted, lol, Steve could tweak it in the vice, lol, love the mug too.....really good news that you're making good progress, keep heading that way and you'll be back out on your gorgeous Speedy before you know it :grinning:

    Gotta agree, Sandi T;
When you can no longer get a leg over, it’s definitely time to quit! :worried:.

Oh, @joe mc donald , you are a funny guy. ;) I don't think I'm ready for a trike just yet. I'm not one to throw in the towel. But I do appreciate you looking out for my well-being. :kissing_heart: Steve's and Annie's too so it seems.:joy:

Here are a couple of pics from my racing days. This first one is the bike that went down with the ship two weeks ago.
    Sandi.1.jpeg

The bike in this photo was a team bike back when I raced on a local team. We were hanging around waiting for someone to change a flat when I spied a cigarette butt and a vodka bottle on the side of the road. Just a little mugging for the camera. I don't smoke and I never drink vodka. Most everything else, but never vodka! Well, unless it's in a Bloody Mary of course. ;)
    Vodka&Cig.jpeg

My ex and I did lots of racing on a tandem, too. This was on Mt. Lemmon when there used to be an annual hillclimb race. No more tandem riding for me. I got the tandem in the divorce and wound up selling it back to the ex for a reasonable price. At least it seemed reasonable to me! :joy::joy::joy:

Thanks, @Dartplayer! I think those good healing vibes and well wishes of you and my other forum buddies are starting to do the trick. And Mr. Sandi and Annie are awesome. Today my "walking" is actually starting to resemble walking. Far less pain and I'm not dragging Mr. Sandi down just to get across the room. ;):grinning: A longtime friend of ours swung by with this nurse's cap for Mr. Sandi earlier today.:joy::joy::joy:

And Annie is ever-present by my side. Plus she looks a lot better than I do these days!

Thanks, @Dave C! I've started calling apple fritters the "Breakfast of Champions". Had yet another one this morning. I think that makes six days in a row. But it's one of the things I most look forward to each days. And the jury is in. The apple fritters from Amy's Donuts beat out the fritters from Dunkin' Donuts by a mile. Or a kilometer. And the gal at Amy's told Mr. Sandi that if we call a day ahead they will happily make fritters of different flavors for me – apple, blueberry, cherry. How cool is that?! :grinning:

If you need pain relief try (sic) the Senate impeachment hearing. Schiff is wall to wall Mogadon!

As far as I can see, if you look forward to the fritters each day then that can only be a good thing, and to be able to order your own personal varieties....how cool.is that :yum...keep on keeping on Sandi, you're doing great guns

Thanks, @DCS222! Yes, I'm definitely improving day by day. Great recommendation on the "apple a day". :grinning: But if I add in the juggling like the gent in the video I'll have to do it one-handed for another 5 weeks or so. At least I'm right-handed and it's my left elbow that's under repair. ;):)

Keep it up Sandi and you will heal faster, BTW in post #168 Annie looks like she is extremely protective, and ready to pounce.

You're right there Joe. When I had my " off " from a mountain bike about 8 years ago I was using those clipless pedals. The one where you lock your shoes onto the pedals. I landed hard, unable to free my feet, directly on my point of hip, snapping the neck of my femur.
2 operations later, the first was a dud, I still get pain from it. I now use those short plastic toe clips. The ones without straps. Much safer.

Hope you are starting to heal Sandi. Suspect it will take ages to fully heal.

Thanks, @Old phart phred! I appreciate the encouragement. I'm highly motivated to do all the things my physical therapist is having me do. Though slow and with support, I am walking a bit more and more each day. :grinning:

And yes, Annie is extremely protective of me since my accident two weeks ago. She always has been but now she's definitely on high alert and never lets me out of her sight. Here are a couple of photos from this morning taken in the living room from my temporary "office" aka wheelchair, TV tray, pillows, and computer. :joy::joy: Oh, and my morning apple fritter and coffee.:yum
