So I drive to the home improvement center to pick up some supplies needed to finish a project I am workimg on. Hands full of small items I make my way to the checkout. There two able bodied female employees are talking. They look at me and ask, "Do you need help using the self checkout, or can you.handle it ?" I dumped all my 6 items or less in an empty basket and went somewhere else to shop. Now...I did my good deed for the day. I gave two idle employees something.to do. Now THEY get to walk all over store putting those items away ! GOD are store employees lazy !...J.D.

I cant remember who "lost" a front tyre for the Speed this year. 89 quid from Oponeo. Money back no bother, no sign of the tyre, when the replacement came it had just see through plastic wrapping, so thieves could see if it was the right size and make for their bike. Unbelievable.
And you tell that to kids today.

Your post implied that all those that ‘chose’ a certain sexual orientation also play victim. my point was that it’s not universal. Apologies if that’s not what you meant.
Generalisations are lazy and abhorrent, whoever the target.

And of course some people seem to deliberately misunderstand or misrepresent the intent of someone else's post, or do not have the common sense to realise that the post was not aimed at an entire community/group.

Update court judge, has just made a decision to move her to a treatment facility, but the term has not been decided yet. She still blames me again even though I was asleep like last time. 2 hour visit period in the cafeteria are allowed.

Sorry to hear your plight Phred. Gots lot of that kind of trouble in our neighborhood. All my friends are.getting old and have to take care of aged love ones to boot. Some dealing with more than one parent with major problems. My compassionate thoughts go out to you my friend. Barbara & I are getting old, but we are made of some pretty stout fabric. Family is all gone, but we have good friends close by. I do a lot of praying these days. ...J.D.

Firstly, I really hope she can get the help and support she needs.
Secondly don't forget the help and support YOU need - breaking yourself by trying to be strong won't help her!
Thirdly, the fellow across the street dares to call himself a Christian? Sounds more like a self-righteous bigot to me. The again, I'm a heathen, so what would I know about honour or doing the right thing?

At work we come into contact with a disproportionately high demographic of people from LGBTQ+ (I believe that's the acronym they are using this week) people. Also a very high proportion of people with mental health issues.

Some of them I am proud to have as friends, others just seem to want rant and rave about how badly they are treated by society - and as a straight white male they literally see me as the enemy. The 'in your face' hatred and bile they exude towards anyone not like them all the while they are aggressively playing the victim does them absolutely no favours.
One of the 'fanatics' started trying to lecture me about how oppressed she was which had led to her self harming, and started trying to hit me when I suggested that I had as much right as she did not to be subjected to the tirade of abuse towards men she was spouting at me, and perhaps if she behaved normally instead of trying to be special, people would in fact treat her normally!

For me equality should mean being equal regardless of race, sexuality, or religion rather than everyone having to tiptoe around someone just in case they decide to take offence.

I couldn’t agree more, but it only works if everyone has the same perspective and opinions... which we don’t, hence the inappropriate behaviour at both extremes of the scale.
Whether we like it or not, there has been a historical abuse of power which needed to be addressed by the civil rights movement (globally, not just US) or the Women’s Suffrage moment etc. This has been taken and beaten thin to cover all kinds of perceived oppression to the point of farce (IMHO).
I hope you had that idiot put onto a disciplinary for her inappropriate sexist bigotry and then fired for physical abuse?

I work as a tech in the entertainment industry these days and these people form our client base, so I can't discipline them or have them fired. She was more likely to hurt herself than me, and it is best to let the venue security deal with things if they reach the point where intervention is necessary as it avoids grey areas should the police get involved. If the same one does it again be under no illusions she will be blacklisted from our events.

I'd be interested to know what the 'behaviour and conversation' that everyone was having was, that may have offended someone who is gay.

Not sure whether it's been pointed out before, but the majority of gay people are born that way and didn't make a choice. It is not an illness, unless of course you are a medical expert and have scientific evidence to show some sort of mental disorder. If you think about the appalling way homosexual men in particular have been treated over the decades and centuries, in this country and many others (and still are in some places), why would anyone choose to be gay? For fun? I doubt it.

Interesting. So are you suggesting that these specialists actually know that homosexuality is a sickness but are too afraid (for whatever reason) to say so? Do you know this or just assuming?

My impression was that GF8 suffered the abuse at work, where perversely that equality can be redressed to some extent (manager dependent etc.) better than in (anti)social gatherings such as your incident.
It turns out his assailant was a “customer”

The whole question of sexuality and it being a mental health problem... at what point does a divergent sexuality to yours (not gender or other complicating matter) become a mental illness??? Are bisexual mentally ill? What about masturbaters? If they knock one out to a porno... does it matter what they’re watching??? Just a girl = ok, boy/girl = wary, girl/girl = nope, boy/boy = nope, girl/girl/boy = err... boy/boy/girl = steady on... girl/koala/duck = bingo
    ;)

At risk of banging the same drum.... equality should mean equality. Everyone should be treated the same.

Abuse between people is NOT okay, and should be treated the same regardless of sexual, racial, or religious orientation with no special consideration given because someone happens to be of a minority that presents themselves as victims. I am not saying that some groups haven't experienced intolerance and prejudice in the past, but that does not mean that they should be given a free pass to be abusive themselves.
