yeah I often think how lucky we are to have quietish roads and the scenery is beautiful . Im always looking for a chance to go further afield on trips and days out cos I know alot of the roads "You always want what you have not got".
Cleaned the Bonny this morning then the sun came out, so went for a ride. met a mate on his gixer 1000 and went to sunny Tenby for a ice cream. Nice and quiet there now all the holiday makers have gone.
Went down from Dublin to Greystones along the coast yesterday, wonderful weather for it. Had a feast of food, coffee and dessert at The Happy Pear. Coming back up though the fog thickened, nearly got in a chain crash along the M11, bloody nervous people jumping on their brakes! All is well that ends well, though.
Fitted my Stebel Nautilus to my America. Had it on the SV650, but was not enough space on the GSXR to fit it, so has sat on the shelf for a couple of years. The relay takes the feed from the standard horn and then powers the Stebel. So both the standard horn and the Stebel sound together. Sound is deafening !!! Made a little bracket up and have hung it below the oil cooler on the front. Even managed to re-use the wiring loom I made up for the SV with just a wee extension added to reach down to the Stebel. not as much room around the battery as I would have thought, for such a big bike. If you haven't heard how loud these are !!! You should. Nobody will not hear it! Scares the sh*t out of pedestrians !!! LOL.
Silver renthal bars and black mini indicators arrived today, did not like the standard black bars on my scrambler so hope a change of colour and shape will do the job
Buy some 7/8th renthals and fit 7/8 to 1" adaptors, you can find them on the bay, they do wide for the controls job done.
Swore at it.. stared at it .... swore at it again(91 Daytona 1000).... I have a broken? wire maybe as when I waggle the solenoid the bugger cuts dead. Found this by accident today as once again the bugga would not start or even try! Move the lead to the starter motor & it did try but did not fire. Move the the lead again & nothing...no dash lights even. Move it again & I have dash lights & he turns over but no sparks so no go lol. Now one coil is dodgy but to have the other quit at the same time is odd. Tested continuity on all leads & they all seem ok & the solenoid! So day off tomorrow will be spent getting it going or setting fire to it lol
Darkman, pics please. Love renthal bars, got em on my sprint with an adaptor. think they are 754s, Road low, makes the bike look and feel more aggressive, lol. bit like the rider. Stiffler good luck mate. damned electrics probs.grrrrrrrrr, hang in there dont use the matches
Today Friday my day off.....Well I swore at it again(Daytona 1000). then a smoko a ponder & set to it. All wires checked again coils n all. Replaced battery leads emptied 2 cans of brake cleaner through carbs including the small filters in the "T" pieces(which I only learned about on this site so CHEERS) . Had a REET game fitting throttle cable to carbs & carb rubbers to air filter lol. Any way added petrol (lighter was on stand by lol) & the bugga fired up!!!!!!! YIPPPPPEEEEEE & whats more its started 20 times since! Cable adjustment was all that was needed. Happy days...for now ..me thinks?
Great news your insurance company will be pleased. What is it with them rubbers there feckers to put back on .
Spent 5 hours in the shed extending wiring loom for my new rear light indicator bracket, finished in the dark with only a head torch to work by. It's a mystery how these indicators wire up but finally got the right ones flashing at the right time only to have fuses keep blowing! Grrrrr!! Will have to leave it til Sunday morn now, hopefully get it sorted for ring of red ride
