Road my Bonnie for a fair distance using the rear footpegs for an alternative riding position, and now wondering about getting a rearsets mod kit, and if so which make. Either that or turn mine in for a Thruxton
These guys had a cafe racer conversion kit which included seat, fairing , rearsets 2-1 exhaust rear sets etc. I saw them at a triumph meet. Try giving them a call and ssking
Parking my bike up when I got home last night, in the dark. Mistook the gear change for the side stand! As my left arm was fully extended the sudden shift forward (& luckily stalled) popped my left shoulder, I don't know if my shoulder popped out and immediately popped back in but it bloody hurt So now I am feeling like a complete plonker and resting my arm. But the bike is fine, I managed to get her in the garage and safely locked up before stumbling inside while supporting my arm...the wife made me a cuppa and I felt a lot better.
Lol.... I did something similar on my front drive a while back, just did 100 odd miles, still buzzing, forgot the sidestand and stepped off the bike.... next thing I'm lying on my back in the driveway staring at the sky thinking "what the f...!" .... pure embarrasement and a broken clutch lever!
I imagine there's a few guys on here that remember wearing flares! Well, back in the day when electric starts didn't exist and you had to use your right leg to get the beast going, I was travelling down the Fulham Palace Road in London, there was not too much traffic back in those days so you could do it without stopping every 2 yards, anyway there I am riding along wearing my beaten look tan leather jacket with removable sleeves (YUK) and 18" denim flares worn outside my m/cycle boots! I pulled up at some lights, lent the bike slightly to the right and went to put my right foot down....nothing..... my leg wouldn't move, at this point gravity took over and CRASH! there I was in full riding position, on my side very red faced staring up at a fellow biker who was p*^sing himself. when I had last started the bike the kickstarter had slid up the inside of my 18" flares stopping me from getting my leg away from the bike, proving that m/cycling and fashion should really not be mixed, or maybe I should have bought the 28" flares!!
Ha! ha! did more or less the same thing on my CB550. Stopped behind a dust cart in a single lane street, flares caught in the kick start, down I went in front of 3 dustmen who proceeded to nearly wet themselves laughing.
On my way to work a few years ago. Into the shop for fags (remember them) and lunch. stuffed the fags in my pocket and lunch up my front, jumped on the bike and away, 1st corner was left , next thing the side stand- I had forgotten to kick up,- caught and down I went straight across the road! Engine bars got the worst didnt even tear my breeks. ps, Crispey 7 points for use of the phrase "back in those days" a full 10 was available for use of "back in the day", so close.
