    @DCS222, while it seems your son's perception of electric kettle ownership is a myth, I'm not so sure about there being hope for the nation. :worried:

    6.40 a.m. and you should be on your second brew. American tea is a bit insipid to my tastes. It lacks the Darjeeling floral note or Assam ‘bite’ before I hit the first coffee of the day.

    Got five cans of John Smith’s which I’ve started on :yum
    Gonna have a beef madras with mushroom pilau rice:yum
    Then it’ll be Jameson’s or Jack Daniels :yum

    With Peter Gabriel on the music system... I’ve been setting the base for a couple of chillis for tomorrow nights session... ready to split into two... 1) Standard chilli, can serve to my daughter... 2) Homer’s mysterious voyage!
    Number 2 is waiting the addition of 4 dried and a spoonful of brined jalapeños (the dried are serrano, narga viper, home grown Piri Piri and birds eye - not by me but a nurse colleague with a love for spices)

    All this hard work deserves reward... another chateauneuf du pap is sinking rather nicely.

    Chin chin!!

    edit:- it can’t be a Serrano, it appears red in colour... probably a New Mexican or similar

    After a hard day watching a bloke mend our fence followed by huge kebabs relaxing with the nice Glenfiddich and finishing the Advocaat

    so that’s the drink cabinet emptied apart from half a bottle of whiskey and the Malibu which even I can’t face ;)

    All ready to be stocked up again tomorrow :)

    Hmm... my poll now implies a 50:50 electric kettle ownership in the USA... thanks for the response Phred, but the chances of a good cuppa in America have just taken a huge hit!

    Well, sounds like the poll was only an N of 2, @DCS222, although I'm not sure having more respondents would change the overall outcome. But you can increase your chances dramatically of a good cuppa in the US if you visit Mr. Sandi and me...rather than Phred. ;):)
