Hooked up to the charger. Jedburgh is less than 50 miles away but it is as dark as Hades here with wind and rain. I might venture out tomorrow if the promised sun appears.

Not sure, mate. On the one hand as long as you wash it out and it doesn't leak then fine. On the other hand if its powdery then an idea might be to pour in some screws and shake it about for 47 minutes then wash and check for leaks.

 

Did a bit more.
Spark plugs were unusual, I had to throw a socket down the hole, then the extension, then connect the lot, get the plug undone, stick a screw driver down to release the socket again, and finally fish out the socket and then the plug with a magnet.
I put the air box back on connected all the sensors then found I'd trapped one of them down the side, so I had to redo the lot.
Then I borrowed an Oil Filter tool cos the bloody thing was on so tight that my cup one just slipped off, it came off eventually.
I ended up painting the sump cos it was all sand-blasted with road grim.
I would have swapped my lunch with Dilli's.

 

Today I had bike problems . My original plan was to ride around the Peak District as the weathermen said proper sunny all day . So I set off nice and early, before it had even got proper light, unfortunately after 10 miles the bike started misfiring when opening throttle to accelerate, almost like I was in too high a gear . Spark plug caps were on firm, and it had no problem cruising at high revs in low gear, so thought spark was OK, must be fuel/air problem. I decided to head home in case bike gave up completely, and by the time I got home it was struggling to even idle .

As I have a Booster Plug fitted I thought I would try removing that in case it was the cause (e.g. short/open circuit confusing ECU), also if I needed to take bike to dealers for a warranty job best to not have it on . Anyway, test ride went OK for about 5 mins then problem happened again , so back home for second time.

Then I had a brainwave , if problem happens after while, perhaps there's a partial vacuum forming in the petrol tank. I had noticed recently that the petrol cap lock was very stiff, perhaps the air valve thingy is also gunked up. So I wiggled the key back an forwards until it was mostly smooth, then drowned the keyhole in WD40, wiggled some more and tried another test ride... This time I managed 3 hours riding without problems (too late to planned Peak District jolly), so fingers crossed I have fixed things...

 

Hmm, researching more, I wonder if my 2018 Speedmaster has a valve in the petrol cap. Seems that modern bikes have an 'evap' system that supersedes such things? In which case I probably still have latent problems.

I can report that the gloves and socks work brilliantly
Got caught in the Feckin rain near Jedburgh and rode through a HUGE pile of Scottish manure
I kid you not NUDGER is covered in shite

Had a ride out with the SERVSSL lot today, been a long time since I’ve taken Tracey out, great ride, great weather and rounded off with a curry back at hq

 

First service done and a pleasant experience from my Triumph dealer ! Happy days

 

Finally got out for a ride. Motorcycles really are theapy, I feel so much better now

 

Myself and Lisa took the thunderbird over to watton today for the first mot.
And it passed So all is good on the way back thought we would pop over to crazy horse for a coffee but it was closed. But weather was great so took the long way home .

Nice one TT...

 

Went for the annual holiday cruise with Mrs Dartplayer on Neno to the local beaches across the hills. Much less anxious this year after replacing the dampers with weight appropriate shocks.

 

Couldn’t help myself (not Mrs Dartplayer ) getting a summer shot for the lads in the north.

 

Looks strange , but was a regular standard poodle shaved close. Fetched the ball for an hour, is running away with fluffy tail sticking up

Had some spare time over the xmas break so finally got time to spend witn the old girl and give her some much required TLC (hardly turned a wheel in 18ths). Been busy but got most of the work done:

• deep clean
• plugs - oil - filter- air filter
• stripped, cleaned and re-lubed rear hub
• brake fluid flush
• new coolant
• flush radiator/coolant system
• flush oil cooler.
• fitted R&G tail tidy
• Finally fitted front and rear cameras

still have a few jobs to do:

• renew fork oil
• headstock clean/regrease
• TB balance
• chain/sprocket
• ride the fooker.

i did notice that the previous owner had fitted K&N filter (now sat on my bench) and the wong plugs 8's instead of 9's. this may explain the sometimes lumpy throttle and hesitation opening up sometimes.
i will upload some pics as soon as i can work out how to do it.
