Let's just say I like to keep Mr. Sandi on his toes, DD. ;) That said, Mr. Sandi has my respect and admiration, too. :) Thanks for the 30th birthday wishes! Those particular wishes are just a wee bit late, though, I'm sorry to say. :joy:

Got into drinking (canned) Guinness when working. We regularly had to catch the overnight Liverpool - Dublin ferry when taking float glass (around 25 tonnes each load) over to Ireland, and a can of Guinness or perhaps a bottle of cider (as one of my five a day - obviously!) would be enjoyed with/after the evening meal. Then, when waiting on Dublin docks for the return trip to Liverpool, we would often walk into the city (trams are now available to save the walk) for a drink or two - usually Temple Bar.:grinning: Expensive but one hell of a good craic there and highly recommended.:party:
But a good pint of Guinness does take time to pour properly, which is probably why some pubs don't like serving it. Four of us found a back street pub near the docks one day and ordered 3 pints of the black stuff:cool: and one pint of lager. 1st pint of Guinness was started off pouring while the lager was dispensed. "Sit yerselves down, lads, and I'll bring the Guinness over to you in around five minutes" said the landlord. Lager Boy got his drink straight away! Around five minutes later 3 pints of picture perfect Guinness appeared, and oh boy were they worth waiting for!?:grinning::yum:yum Talk about nectar of the gods - wow, not even close. 3 more pints were ordered immediately, plus the pint of lager - well he'd almost drunk it while waiting. Much cheaper than Temple Bar as well.:)
    Ah, happy days! SIGH!!!

Holy cow, DD! This looks like the whiskey aisle in a liquor store! :):joy::joy:

Next to your Christmas alcohol haul, mine was tiny. ;) And this photo includes what I got for Mr. Sandi and what he got for me. Community booze. Note the 12-year Redbreast. :) Now it's time for blind taste comparison between the 15-year that Mr. Sandi got me for my birthday and the 12-year that I got him for Christmas. :yum

Mr. Sandi got me the Freakshow and Prisoner wine and I got him the Redbreast, Don Julio "70" tequila and the St. Bernardus ABT 12 beer.

DD, you are in the perfect position to do a major blind taste test so that you can make some unbiased judgments about your now liquor store-sized whiskey collection. More than once you've mentioned your high expectations as well as prices on what you've tasted thus far. But, the only true way to fairly decide is to control for those variables and sample without knowing the name, price, ratings, or the opinions of others.

So..... let it be known that I hereby challenge you, @Dozers Dad, to a blind taste test of the following:

    1. Jameson Caskmates
    2. Green Spot
    3. Redbreast
    4. Dublliner
    5. BlackBush

And absolutely no peeking allowed! It's the only way, DD. :) And to make the test itself unbiased and official there will need to be another participant to do the pouring and score-keeping. ;) I will patiently yet eagerly await your opinion unbiased by brand, price, or expectation.
