As a Heads up you cant remove the baffles and are only a little louder than standard but sound better with an X pipe

You can easily remove the finish and run with bare metal.

Well finally got my ohlins fitted. I got the springs powder coated black. Very happy with the result. They ride a bit firmer than the standard so need to play with the settings but definitely rides over the bumps better

    Ady,
LSL Superbikes do a yokes/riser conversion yokes to fit Bonnie style handle bars to a Thruxton, so they should fit the ST. Now on the look out for a set of front Ohlin's & callipers & discs. I have done these works before with a XS650 flat tracker build

curious now that you've had some time to fiddle, how you're getting along with these.

Trying to maintain a plushish ride but stiffen when it gets going in the canyons.

My only fear with stealing them off the Thruxton R was getting too harsh on our crap roads. I'd rather like to relax when puttering about, but still be able to have the bike settle in when needed?

Also didn't want to set the pre-load so high as to raise the rears of the bike any.

    I'm about 200# (sadly)

Did you need make any compensatory changes in the front?

    thx

i have set the rear shocks to the Thruxton standard settings, and the front Ohlin's forks to Speed Triple R settings (2016). i would say that the front Ohlin's forks are noticeably better than the OEM.

I am 200 lbs app, the settings are fine for me, i have done app 1200 miles on her now and not felt the need to alter the suspension set up, the best modification i have carried out was the fitting of the throttle spacers.

The roads i ride are fast rural roads Nottinghamshire Derbyshire Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, no canyon riding put a few steep hills in Derbyshire

Hi. Yeah same as Lessaint I run them on standard thruxton settings and I find them fine. Probably a little stiffer than standard but nothing dramatic. I ride mostly twisty roads with the odd motorway blast when I commute to work. I did this mod more for cosmetic reasons because I hate chrome. I also had the Ohlins springs powder coated black. I haven’t done anything with the front yet as they seem pretty good to me. I might upgrade the springs to a progressive one later but not felt the need just yet. upload_2020-7-2_6-11-58.jpeg

    thanks to you both.

Good to know they are still compliant enough to be comfortable and not too harsh. That's my one fear is being able to dial them in enough to be plush(ish) around town.

The front being like the speed triple would not be as good for me though. I thought that bike transmitted every irregularity on the road to the handlebars.

I've thought about simply putting some progressive springs up front.

truthfully, will likely ride for a bit before pulling the trigger.

Hi I took them to my local bike shop who took them apart for me. Then I took the springs to another local guy who does powder coating. He did a great job only took 24 hours and had the springs refitted. Total cost was £50 for paint and labour. I think it looks nicer with the black springs. Each to their own though !

Sorry Ethan it took me awhile to get back to you.

Those are Sato Racing crash bungs. I can’t give you a rating because I haven’t tested them yet. ;)

I like the way they look, tho, they are fairly unobtrusive.
