You're right, @Dozers Dad, I didn't provide a proper appraisal or review. My apologies! I'm planning to do a set up a taste test of the Dubliner over our holiday break when we can do a proper blind tasting. And not have to get up for work in the morning. ;) I've bought Mr. Sandi a bottle of Redbreast as a Christmas gift so we'll do the Dubliner and the Redbreast and perhaps the Bushmill's. Or if you've another suggestion to round out the blind taste test trio let me know! :)

I paid $27 for the Dubliner at Total Wine--or as Mr. Sandi and I fondly refer to that liquor store, "Totally Wine Dude". :joy: It looks like at the current exchange rate that the £20 is equivalent to $27. My initial appraisal is that I really like the Dubliner! Very smooth and delicious and absolutely worth the cost. It definitely made "the list". :yum

Here's an interesting article I ran across. Of the whiskeys listed I've had the Redbreast 12 year, the Writers Tears Copper Pot,and the Green Spot (not sure of which one), all of which I like. Who out there has had others and what do you think?? Which would you recommend?

But drinking 3.5 or 4 is ok?? Good luck with the lift testing, DD!

I like your thinking, DD! Not to mention your verve and commitment. Seize the day! :grinning: Or seize the Guinness/Captain Morgan cocktails, as the case may be.

Hmmm, let me think about it, DD. ............. No.

I do like cookies (biscuits) though. :) And tea. I do like a hot beverage in the winter in front of the fire but at this moment I'm drinking a hot toddy and not tea. It's made with the Alexander Murray "Monumental" scotch I posted about a few pages back. :yum

Good luck finding a crash test dummy (right, a "volunteer").

Actually, I quite like the Monumental scotch! We don't have any booze in the cupboard that I wouldn't drink neat. ;) When I first began drinking martinis I quite quickly came to the realization that they're composed of whatever's in them (stunning information, I know). My point is that if there are two or three ingredients in a cocktail, the quality of each of those individual ingredients can't help but affect the end result. I've been to excellent restaurants that boast a terrific selection of gins. But then they go and ruin perfectly great gin by making a martini with crap vermouth or garnishing it with a sickly little twist or some measly flavorless olives.

The upshot of all this is that my hot toddy was spectacular! :grinning::cool:

I agree Sandi whisky only needs a touch of water to soften tbe flavour and navy rum has to be straight. I have the navy standard at the moment which is much smoother than Woods

When has your wife decided to go?

Edit: The thought of a whole weekend alone with Mrs CB gives me a fright! I’d make sure I booked her to go on another weekend...
