I have had my Harley for 13 years now and love it to bits but for some time have wanted another bike that i can use all year for solo riding. The Harley is fantastic for summer two up riding and cruising but as soon as the weather turns cold it aint fun.
I went to test ride a DRZ400 on Saturday but came away disappointed so called in at Webbs in Eye on the way home where i had a sit on the Tiger 800. Before long I'm out on their demo XRX and wow
I'm impressed. Not too keen on the throttle at first but soon got used to it and the thing is quite simply brilliant. Obviously the performance is very different to my old hog but what surprised me was just how "usable" the Tiger is.
So, heres the question. Is the new Tiger at £8500 a hugely better bike than a three year old low milage Tiger at £6k. ???

A 2015/6 Tiger 800 is a better bike - imo - than the first generation of 800cc Tigers specifically in the engine and gearbox departments. The XC and XR are the base models and the XCX and the XRX are the more highly specced versions of the same bike. As to whether it's worth the extra over a used 3yr old one, well that depends on your budget.

An XR or XC would be, do a degree comparable with a 3yr old one (taking into account the new bike's enhanced mechanics), but if you are thinking of an XRX or XCX, they are vastly superior.

They are a really excellent general purpose machine - I very nearly bought one !!!!!

You certainly get more gadgets with the XRX/XCX.
What with the new gearbox as well it's probably worth paying the extra if you can afford it.
Saying that the "old" one isn't exactly rubbish.

I test rode an XRX for about 3 hours and was really taken with it. Easy loping style, real acceleration when you needed it, all day comfort as they come as std. with a comfort seat, a thoroughly nice bike.

Got a test ride booked on a 2012 Tiger to get a comparison. One owner with less than 3000 miles. Cant get my head around someone who has a bike for 3 years and does only 3k. ?? :)

Bizarre mate. When I bought my 2013 bike 5 weeks ago it had done 8,000kms (5,000mls) in 2 yrs. Since I've had "Kitten" I've done 2,600 kms !!!

Looking back over the old MOT's it appears my Trident only did 733 miles in 7 years - I managed that in two weeks!
