Thanks, Vulpes! We love our Annie Lou. She really is pretty--even more in person. Of course, we're not exactly objective. ;) Yours is so darn cute I just want to take her little jowlies in my hands and give her some love squeezes! :D

I know what you mean - Vinnie's still young, only six, and has a lot to learn still. He'll get there though. And quite a character, too!

Its been and still is a worrying time here at the Tiglet household as my last English Springer Spaniel, 13.5 year old Fizzy is suffering with Vestibular Syndrome.

It started in the early hours of Thursday morning with her being violently sick and she struggled to stand, often collapsing.
Her mother Alice suffered with the same syndrome a couple of times in her last couple of years but got over it after a few days, so I had a good idea what the problem was with Fizzy.

After a visit to the vets first thing on Thursday morning who gave her a thorough examination and an injection to stop her feeling nauseous.

Saturday morning and she was looking really down so it was an early emergency visit to the vets again with numerous blood tests being done, they all proved to be ok for a dog of her age, with another injection to stop her feeling nauseous and a steroid injection.

Fizzy hasn’t eaten or drunk anything since Wednesday tea time of her own accord so every few hours I’ve been giving her clean fresh water via a syringe to keep her hydrated and fed her cooked chicken cut into very small pieces by opening her mouth and putting small amounts onto the back of her tongue which she then swallows.

She can now stand but her head is cant to one side and when she walks it’s precariously in an arch sometimes stumbling.

Just got to hang on in there hoping that within a few days she can start eating and drinking on her own accord and her walking improves.

Poor little sausage. Hopefully she’ll shake off the attack and begin to recover? It this common for that breed of dog as haven’t heard of it before.

I’ve heard of humans staggering around in a dizzy stupor and being sick - but mostly after a serious drinking session.

Tiglet, I'm really sorry to read about Fizzy's health. I hope that she feels much better very soon. It is so upsetting and frightening when our beloved pets are ill and confused about why they are feeling so poorly. Somehow they do seem to know that we are doing our best to care for them, though. Please keep us posted on how she is doing.

Thanks everyone for the concerns showed for Fizzy :kissing_heart:

Up this morning at 06.15 hours and Fizzy was much the same, had to feed her and give her water by hand as I’d done since this problem started. She was still stumbling.

After I took the grandchildren into school I went to visit a friend for a few hours and left Mrs Tiglet in charge.
Whilst I was away Mrs Tiglet had made a large pie filled with Pheasant, Bacon and Mushroom and she had a small amount of the filling left over.
At lunch time Fizzy was offered a small amount of the pie filling, less the Mushrooms and low and behold she ate some of it :).
I’ve just taken her out for a short walk of about 300 yards and she was walking better until it was time to turn round then whoops over she went.
Still early days but a vast improvement over the last 4 days so finger crossed :)
