New Speedmaster or used??

Can't say much about fork shrouds but newer triumphs (speaking from bonnevilles) 2012 onwards approx run that shitty CANbus electrical system which can't be chopped into and modified if that's an answer you needed?

 

Speedmasters used to have twin discs up front, but that stopped around 2010.

 

My 13 plate doesn't have the shrouds and I'm with you I think they look better with them. The thing for me was the price between a ten year old bike and a two year old bike was relatively close so I couldn't justify having the older bike. I paid less than 6k from a triumph dealer but another non triumph dealer wanted 4k for a 04 plate, although it did look respectable.
I think it comes down to personal choice, and if you like fettling I think maybe you'd be happy with an older machine and like you say residuals are good anyway.

 

I just paid 5k for a 2010 Bonnie se. I have had a few over the years and there are a lot of very low mile bikes out there. they seem to hover around the 5k mark for a long time. but the nice thing is how ever long you keep it should hold its money

 

Hi, my 07 reg (05 model) is fine and it has real carbs. It handles so smoothly you forget you're in a bend. The twin discs up front are pretty sharp so anchoring on ain't a problem. The only thing I'm not thrilled about is the tacky looking front indicator mountings as they spoil the look but that's just cosmetic luckily you can get OEM bits to relocate them. All in all a good bike just as long as you don't mind a leisurely ride and don't try to flog along at warp factor snot.

Hey don't worry t4, it took me 3yrs to find my bargain.
Good job I weren't in a rush! I've found that waiting out of season doesn't seem to work as planned since the ages of Bonneville and generally triumph modern classics owners are 'older' and are less likely to sell cheap out of season as young sports bike lads would do. You'll know when the "right" one appears. Eric

 

Ha! That's the problem with looking before your ready to buy! All the right ones come up! I always beleive if there's a reason why you can't buy it it's because the real right one hasn't appeared yet, so if it's not available when you're ready it's not the right one.
