I have converted both my homes to LED. Made a HUGE difference in my electric bills. The workshop & garage have not got this upgrade yet. There is always room for improvement. I DID get to use the furnace I installed in the garage last spring for the first time last night. Raining and 40°f. outside/60°f. with a warm breeze inside . LED lights in there WOULD be nice. ...J.D.

Led lights are ideal for a shed or garage, instant on and not affected by cold temps. Down to about $20 for a shop light. Gutted the florescent lights in the caravan, and bought so tape mounted LED, slapped them on a piece of white cardboard. Tape is about $3/meter. Note that LED are 12 volt DC.
You can buy 1 meter linear extrusions with cover that is only 17x5 mm for under counter LED for your workbench for about $3/meter
As a born and bred west Midlander I can concur with DD's description, that's about right for specs DD for finer adjustment you can go with a lump variety
