DD, to be honest all this tasting characteristic stuff is beyond me, wine tastes like wine Whiskeys taste like Whiskey, I know I’m a philistine, like my wine and spirits smooth

Purchased post a boozy lunch along with a cheeky bottle of Malbec and Chablis and of course the obligatory Prosecco for the current Mrs

Container is known as a mason jar. In the USA during the summer months party sessions it is not uncommon to get shine or PGA and use it to fill a watermelon and let it set a couple of days in the fridge, then eat the watermelon. good times for even the "non" drinkers. Along with some music.

Quick edit, a copperhead is a common venimous snake in the USA

    Just noticed your signature, Repooh.

"For just £2 a month you can help people like Repooh buy wine and new motorcycles, please send money to @repoohsbank, Acct #123456, Sort 99-00-99"

You must be expecting lots of donors if you are looking to buy wine and motorcycles for £2 each per month. Either that or your taste in motorcycles and wine is pretty darned cheap. :joy::joy::joy:

That sounds like quite the delivery, DD! Great selections all. :yum But I'm curious about what the "few others" are. And how few is "few"? I'm sure it will be difficult to wait until Christmas. But as we on the forum are well aware, it's ONLY NOVEMBER!:joy:

I think that a blind taste test will most definitely be in order if you can bring yourself to open all four of those bottles at the same time. That's not even counting the "few others". :)

I was hoping 800-1000 forum members would subscribe to my worthy cause, couple of grand a month would help immensely

Yep, as I just responded to another post of yours, @Dozers Dad , a blind taste test will tell all. Marketing hype is most often just that. When I've done blind taste tests over the years, sometimes my favorite in the bunch is the most expensive. But more often than not, that's not the result. I like your phrase, DD. "Taste dictates the value."

Hi, DD. Yes, Mr. Sandi and I really like the standard Talisker. :yum And we like it immensely better than the "Storm" variety precisely because the Storm is (for us) overly peaty. A friend of Mr. Sandi's bought it for him for his birthday and, well, the other Talisker was gone and there were no other single malts in the bar the evening I had a nip and posted the photo on this thread.

That same friend gave Mr. Sandi a bottle of Laugavulin a few years ago. I'm not sure why he thinks Steve likes those heavily peated single malts  but I think Mr. Sandi dumped that bottle down the drain a few months back. Yeah, sacrilege for some. Well, that bottle disappeared anyway and I know neither he nor I drank it!

Well, a gifted bottle of Laugavulin is even cheaper than bleach, DD! Not for the giver but, hey, we didn't buy it. ;) Of course, we'd never tell Mike we dumped it down the drain but we couldn't very well give it back to him either! :joy:

OMG, I laughed so hard at this I nearly fell out of my chair, DD! :joy::joy::joy: Did you inform Mr. Snob of your experiment after he raved about the doctored cheap scotch?? If so, I'd love to have seen his face. ;)

I don't know what TCP is but if it's anything like iodine, that's what heavily peated single malt scotch smells and tastes like to me. Well, I've never had a drink of iodine, but what I imagine it would taste like.:p

I did note that the label on this bottle of iodine has "Caution Poison" with a skull and crossbones in bright red on the front. Hmmm, I'm guessing TCP isn't poisonous. Or is it??? Maybe it just TASTES like it is. :joy:

Not tonight but last night out with a few mates to celebrate a birthday and we were drinking draught Fischer Noel; a medium brown beer of substance, 6% and counting.

Very nice taste and slips down easy................................

    Guaranteed no antiseptic additives.

Can you substitute TCP with Bromide?

SWMBO has been using TCP (or "Tom Cat's Piss" as my old mum used to call it) as a mouthwash recently. Bloody stuff STINKS!!: unamused:
