You need to compare like with like. Consumer tastes vary.

I'm sure you're correct, crispey. H-D did a similar thing with their Street model back around 2014. To me, the Street seemed nothing like the other models (for some a good thing, for me not) and with much poorer fit and finish. They, like Triumph, also marketed it to new riders because it was smaller. But interestingly (and unwisely, in my opinion) way too tall for many. They used the 500cc version for their Beginning Rider classes. Not sure if that's still the case. I was at our local H-D dealership recently and there weren't any Street models on the floor. Not sure what U.S. sales are like but, like you said about the Triumph--Bajaj collaboration, the market is probably mostly India and elsewhere. We are now in a global economy and MC companies gotta make a buck to stay alive.

I’d love to have a Himalaya for the laugh, ugly in a “I’m not trying” kinda way... perfect for a bike you’d be happy to take nearly anywhere! Care free, it may even make me feel like a God in at least 10 countries!!!

Sorry mate but have to disagree with that assessment, not only was the first Multistrada fugly it rode like a piece of dog doo-doo as well. It truly had, for me, NOTHING going for it, and I was a Duke rider and owner at the time.
