Back in the 60's and living in Bradford at the time ( I live in Doncaster now), I took my test on a 250cc Matchless, I can still remember it today, It was a lot easier in those days - You had to ride your bike around the block, at some point the examiner would jump out in front of you with his clip board shouting stop and if you managed to do the emergency stop without running him over you passed!! - Lol bit different now eh! The last bike I had was a 1970 TR6 Trophy which I sold when I moved to Doncaster, so in order to re-kindle my lost youth I have just indulged myself with a 2012 Bonneville T100 and it is being delivered on Saturday. I'll post some pics then and hope to take an active part in your forum
Excellent stuff Bob, welcome to the Triumph Playground. Looking forward to seeing pics of that Bonny.
This is scary, Bob! SWMBO is a Bradford lass. '60s bike test? I passed one of them - but in Pontefract. 250 Matchless? That was my big brother! I used to have a '69 T120, which is, +/- a carburettor and a paint job, a '70 TR6! And Doncaster is far to close to me for your comfort! Oh, and there was a lad in my class at grammar school (Pontefract) called Woolley! Damned if I can remember his first name - but that's an age thing!! Should we be afraid?? I think so!!! Welcome to the madhouse!!
That's uncanny Steve, I was never good enough for grammar school tho! I did work for Geoff Westerby motorcycles in Bradford for a couple of years in the late sixties, if you remember him. Thanks to all for the welcome
How's it going Bob, welcome. I see you have been reading our bike names, let's us know when you get your new girl her name . Glad your joining us .
Yo Bob, 60's, test riding round block with examiner jumping into road in front of drum brakes! Yup, on a Tiger Cub in Leeds. Welcome aboard
Hi Bob and welcome from another Bradford lad who defected south a long while ago. Great choice of bike and I agree about the test - wish I'd done mine back then 'cos it's a right bugger now!
Hiya Dodge, Not up to press m8 but there's always a first time, why what happens in South Leverton on a Wednesday then?
Just back from works seminar in Doncaster ( Earl of Doncaster Hotel) what a place to get to and as for the M62 don't even go there. All the best mate
Could be busy cos there's horse racing in Donny today, I agree the M62 is a chaos at the best of times, cheers mate, nice Suzuki
Its a bike night at the Plough Inn pub , if the weather's nice its always a good turn out , lots of great classic bikes , always a few Triumphs . It's more of a real bikers do than weekend warrior type job .
