I went out for a 2 hour ride yesterday, put the the heated jacket on but not connected to any power just as an extra layer between by t shirt and jacket. It was bloody sweltering.

That must be nice, to be rid of summer!

Here in the southeast USA, we are breaking heat records left and right. I would love some relief from this blasted heat! In sept, we had for the first time, an entire month of 90+ degree days.

My better half put the heating on Sunday night, got up at 05:15 and the boiler had tripped out, did a reset and got my shower n off to work.
got a phone call 2hrs later saying it had tripped again. so one more reset done then the boiler said enough.
I rang the CH guy and the boiler was a due a service in 2 weeks to keep the warranty going. he came out lunchtime the same day and fixed and serviced the boiler and only charged for the service.
I was well chuffed, no call-out fee
there are some honest guys out there :)

Hi Yes its a Keis (only really because i bought their liner gloves as they were the cheapest heated glove option, then found wiring a faff and then got a jacket, as it made the wiring simpler and i was flush at the time, they are great).

not cheap i'll grant you but whilst i didnt commute every day last year, i rode every month (if that makes sense), only actually had the jacket turned on once and the gloves several times. As said above, as an autumnal midlayer, the jacket on its own and of itself is almost too warm.

I justified the expense to myself on the basis that on the gloves alone it negates the need for heated grips (for me) on two different bikes, and then it was finally the fuckit, this mid layer will do me from -10 to +10, i.e. November to April every year.

It works for me - keeping your core warm is the key. It's pretty good without being switched on. I have the heated inner gloves to connect to it. They work really well as they warm the back of your hands also (unlike heated grips). Wiring can be a bit of a faff though - OK for long trips but ball-ache for a short journey.
