About to buy a 2009 bonneville SE. I have read reports that I can expect gearbox issues . Has anyone experienced this or heard anything about this.???

Never heard of any gear box issues on the Bonnie. Had a 2004 T100 and now have a 2012 SE with no problem.

Thanks for your reply, I am a pretty new to triumph, Ive test ridden a new T100 and loved it, cannot afford a new one though, I have found a nice 2011 SE many miles from me on Ebay. My question is, Ive heard that the SE is a bit lower, I am 6ft, will there be a noticeable difference riding the SE to a T100.
There is no SEs in my area to try out. I was thinking of buying via a courier pick up without seeing to save me a 4hr drive. Your honest opinion would be very much appreciated. As you have had a T100 and a SE you are the man to ask. Many thanks.

The T100 has a taller seat height at 775 mm, due mainly to that model having the spoked, 19" front wheel. The SE has a seat height of 740 mm as it has the 17" cast alloy wheel. Also, the standard SE seat is more sculpted than the T100 (ie. it has less padding and is lower anyway). I swapped my SE seat for a standard T100 and the bike is fine for me at 5' 10".

No - you have the usual warning lights - oil, main beam, etc. and a low fuel level warning light but just look at your milometer for when the service is due - every 6000 miles. (I change my oil and filter every 3000 though).

Big thank you for this information, basically change the seat and all will be a lot better then. I didn't want service lights as I like doing my own oil services.
    thank you again.

Welcome to the family. Don't worry about lights just do your oil change tap the bike into a tune ecu via a laptop and turn the light off hey presto job done. Do drop us a picture of the steed.

I picked mine (2002) up used 6 years ago. The only thing I would say is use the proper grade motorcycle oil and change it now and then. She should shift smooth as silk for years to come. Mine is at 28,000 miles.
