I am looking forward to it, Ade! :yum

Remembering, how my brain switched off when I saw the first pictures of the Thruxton R with the fairing...
I never could stop drooling over it.

And there is one thing, we have to say in favor of these machines: they are not called Cafe RACERS for nothing... If you speed up to about 90 Kph, the windpressure on your breast will relief most of the load from your wrists and spine. Above this speed, the Thruxy was all it ever promised to be (and Steve, I guess the BMW is as well?). The problem is: all those tiny villages in Germany/GB, with their speedzones and -bumps! Unfortunately, I don‘t live in Spain. So villages make up about 40-50% of my rideouts.:worried:

My neighbor is about 25. He rides a Yamaha YZF-R1 and even he does confirm all the above at his young age but when we talked about it, I could see, it is not as bad for him, as it was for me.

One more thing: I had no issues whatsoever with riding the Thruxton 900 SE or the standard Thrux 1200 R. But you could not install the fairing without lowering the handlebars even more and I thought ‘what the heck’ it is only another 3 centimeters. But they really made the difference...

That is a fantastic bike Daniel and in the right colour as well! The Racer is a gorgeous bike, especially with the spoked wheels, but as we have both found out, not a riding position we can sustain at our age without pain! (I know, I'm older than you :D). I would love it otherwise and had it been the upright variant, I would be keeping hold of it no problem.

Minor issue I found was that it is hard to see the side stand and quite hard to find it with your foot. This is worse off the bike where it seems almost impossible to flick it down with a boot on - the stand is quite small compared to the Bonneville and tucked in between other bits. Worse moment is committing to put the bike down - you cannot see the stand for the sticky-out cylinder so there is a heart stopping moment of doubt!

Also, watch out when pushing the bike around - it is so easy to bang your knee on that cylinder! Why can't you German boys put things the right way up! :joy::joy:

Here is some trivia for those interested... :p

In german, ditch pump is called Güllepumpe (Gülle=slurry) and derives from the much celebrated comic book ‘Werner’ making fun of the Honda CX-500 (see @Dozers Dad there are at least two more Germans with humor :p)...
    350E7F9D-7FC8-4495-AB51-59B6ECA0AA7B.jpeg

The beamers we call Gummikuh (rubbercow) since some testrider discovered that the bike raised its’ tail first during hard acceleration due to the cardan shaft drive and the construction of the rear suspension, like a cow does, when it is standing up from the ground. This applied to bikes from 1955-1990... :no_mouth:

I love the pin-striping on the bike - just like the "Old Skool" BMW's

Yes, me too. It is made by hand and looks gorgeous in real. Just like the old /5 from 1969.

When I was a kid, I had a model of it for a very long time on my bookshelf...

Next week, my good friend Peter (@heartlander ) has rented the new Scrambler 1200 XC for 5 days...
We plan to do a little touring in the area and we are both extremely curious about how this bike rides!

    We keep you posted...
    (Maybe even some pics!?) :kissing_heart:

Hey Jez, I wonder, how in some other (say, Moto Guzzi) forum the pi§§ is taken out of Triumph bikes...

Yes Steve! I just came home from a NineT testride and they only had a Racer available which I did not mind for 30 minutes...
BUT it had raised handlebars by AC Schnitzer. It felt like the standard Thruxy R, which rides pretty neat!
So maybe you really should look into this before you loose all that money.
I made a couple of pics for you:

Got very disappointing news today: BMW cancelled the deal with me. They claim, they just discovered that they would not be able to resell my Husqvarna...
    I am pretty sad.
What a shitty world: you cannot even get rid of your money... :skull:
(Yes, I could start the lawyer thingy, but what the f¥ck for...!?)

    Well that's not great!
Would have thought if the deal was done & paperwork raised then a contract existed?

Yes, that‘s right. But they send the contract per e-mail, I signed it and sent it back. So they had my signature, but I did not have their‘s yet.
As I said, I might have some legal claim. But do I want to start a business relationship with a lawsuit?

The whole thing was quite unbelievable...
But I take it as a hint of fate: I shall enjoy the Husky for at least another season :)
And when I drove her home this afternoon, I almost felt ashamed for trying to sell her :relieved:

    Well, well @Dozers Dad ...
When I made my dealings with BMW, I dared to crack a joke and one or two satirical comments. That way, they found out about my true heritage and the adoption story and therefore I definitely was not Doitch guenoog to be allowed into the holy circle of beamer-riders... :scream:

Liebe Freunde, to bring this to a positive ending (I really hate my candy to be grabbed from me...):

I bought the /5 AGAIN :scream:
Albeit with a different and much more competent dealer. AND I keep the Husky - at least for now.

Pretty crazy, I know, but I read somewhere, that the last shirt has no pockets... (a German proverb).

Same as our saying "There are no pockets in a shroud" - you can't take your money with you (so spend the children's inheritance on motorcycles!) :D:D
