No mate - I won't be keeping it. My mate bought it a few weeks ago by trading in his custom built CX500 to the manager (a mate of his) of Hayball Suzuki in Salisbury (plus some cash). The original owner of the Beemer loved the looks, but really wanted a high-revving bike and so walked off with a GSX S 1000.

So, my mate has owned it for no time at all and buggers off to Portugal and Spain on his Tiger where he meets a bloke selling an almost brand new 1250GS for silly money (or so he says). Buys that and then asks me if I know anybody who wants the R Nine T cheap! So I did and should hopefully make a few quid. :D

It's a beautiful bike but the riding position is too aggressive for me - much lower than the Thruxton R I once test rode. You really do have to lay on the tank to get your arms slightly bent and it doesn't corner well unless you get your arse off the seat. I can't be arsed with that, although it is fun to ride, but after 40 minutes I'm knackered. This old git needs to sit up properly on the Tiger or the Bonnie!

    Ha!

Ja, I did tell Jez about my secret love affair, but did not want to open a thread in the Triumph forum...

About the Racer: Steve, I think you just made the same experience that I went through with the Thruxton R
WITH lowered handlebars to fit the fairing... I was in pain almost all of the time, especially the joints behind my hands.
That’s when I traded the R for the T120. And learned the hard way: no more café racers for me.

The NineT Racer is sold in Germany with very few miles on for ridiculous low prices. It’s a shame.
Same as the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401. Retail price: 6.300,-€, selling new at the moment for 4.100,-€
    A joke!

But at that point you realize, that most of the folks who buy these bikes are 50+ and discover that a more upright driving-position isn’t such a bad long-term investment.

Well and since Jez ‘leaked the news’: I just ordered this one:
    1344E464-419F-45A2-BB15-655A3B4BE5D4.jpeg

That’s the NineT/5 (based on the Pure). I think the /5 (Germans call it “Strich Fünf“) is also called Wunderbike for some reason in the english-speaking places. Wiki and Google kept quiet about why...
But I am sure, you guys have some very enlightening ideas... o_O

Anyway: IMHO it is one of the most beautiful bikes in production right now. So I traded my fairly new Husky in and now I am anxiously awaiting my first teutonic machine

Steve, it is a shame that you have to sell the Racer and probably loose quite some money. Such a beauty...

Oh and for anyone who might ask: the Tractor stays in my garage as well! It is too good a bike.

    Cheers!

This is the Svartpilen (so it is the scrambler, not the cafe racer). The one I just sold. I am 1,8m tall and it did not look that ridiculous when I checked in a shopping window...
The bike is not tiny. The average human looks more like this on it:
