The big question. Does it send the wind over the helmet any better? For me the standard item sends it straight into the top of my helmet putting quite a bit of strain on the neck!

It seems to do the job of sending the wind over my helmet quite well.
    How tall are you Robin?

Well bike got serviced and MOT today by destination triumph in Bramley well I couldn't recommend them enough bike got serviced by a lady machanic and she was spot on
Bike felt brilliant after and I went straight out and did a fantastic 150 miles the speed hasn't felt that good for ages and it was one of those rides that everything was good as I was heading for the coast looked like all the tin boxes where heading home never seen so many empty roads
I'm all in love with the 1050 speed triple again and that's the reason why I brought it

decent day so went for a rideout , back way from Lincoln to Gainsboro , then up to Scunthorpe & across to Caistor , then dropped down to Willingham woods for a cuppa , saw a mate there who had just discovered he had a flat battery , on a Harley soft tail . We did try to jump start it , which did work but as soon as the leads were taken off it wouldnt rev , so either the battery was totally buggered or the rectifier had packed up . He ended up getting recovered . So not a good PR day for Harleys

Today, I have been getting my head around either Triumph or the dozy feck who put lock tight on the screws of the air box on my TB. After seeing all bar one screw start turning that what I can only describe as foolhardy design of those brass threads in plastic meaning I can't get the screws out. Ahhhhhhhh. After trying mole grips with no joy, I ended up grinding the heads off and using a punch to pop out the annoying brass treads and glued in bolt bottoms. I finally got the air filter out that was probably the original and that was as black as the lad on a Robertsons jam jar. Then to really upset me €50 for a filter, WTF . Thank you K &N for letting me buy just a filter . Because I then read on the internet that they prefer you to buy the complete air box !! What's that all about. You may ask why am a ranting,WELL. I'm no designer or engineer BUT..... How hard would it be on an air filter box that is wrapped around the frame of a bike to put a side door with a clip to slide the filter out instead of having to take the carbs off to remove the air box hmmmmm. Oh the joys. Anyway how was your day?

Golly!!! You remember Robertsons jam labels!!:eek: That makes you officially old! :D:p

Sadly, you've probably aged several years by messing about with your air filter. :( Put years on me and I had to attend anger management courses as a direct result!!!!:mad::mad:

I fitted the gel seat first thing, still cant see any difference between it and stock, and set off down to Rykers, boxhill as a starting point for my jaunt. Intending to do a circle of bike cafes in Surrey, Hants and sussex. Reached Rykers and parked up, not intending to stay long but just to see what was occurring.
There were a few bikes in but you could tell it was going to be a busy day.

    boxhill.jpg

Left there to go to Newlands Corner via Ranmore Common Road. As I was waiting at the lights to turn right off the A24 some pratt in a mercedes started hooting me, I looked over my shoulder, disdfainfully. He did it again this time pointing at the rear of my bike and shouting something about my number plate I thought he was admiring it. ( how conceited!) Something about falling off could be heard so I got off and had a look, He was right, I waved and shouted "cheers mate". The number plate and tail light were dangling by the brake light wire! The left hand screw holding the number plate on had come out, the number plate had slipped down caught the rear tyre been dragged up breaking the tail light bracket!! so the whole lot was only hanging by a thread (Blah!) Could have been worse I suppose.
I started the process of dismantling the rear end, Luckily I carry the necessary tools. Thanks to all the bikers who yelled a "You all right Mate?" or "Need a hand?" Very thoughtful but when I had to repeatedly stop what I was doing and put something between my teeth so that I could raise a hand in thanks I was getting a tad frustrated. I didn't want to appear rude and ignore them! Got the light/plate assembly off and stuffed it down the front of my jacket and put the seat back on. Then thought " Hang on! no number plate, no tail/ stop light, How am I going to get home riding Through a notorious biking mayhem area which is a feeding ground for any traffic cop wishing to put his quota up!" I just thought "well if I pretend it hasn't happened no-one else will notice either!" It worked! I got home without an incident. Those Ostriches have got it right!
Replaced the FEK with my old mudguard and light cluster and headed off again with a slight change of route, down the A3 then up through Effingham onto Critten Lane which is a very short but beautifuly canopied bit of road, then through some more winding roads to meet up with the A25 and onto Newlands Corner.
    newlands.jpg

Again not as busy as it could be. Had a pee and a wander about, saw a thruxton ace then headed off to Loomies. I was going to try a route I usually use to come back from Loomies through some lovely Surrey Hants country side. The route was going to be reversed so a lot of potential to get lost, at this point I should highlight the fact that I don't use a satnav or map, I look at a route on google maps before I leave home, memorise it (HA!) and orf I go! bearing in mind my age this Leads to all sorts of delays and adventures as I get lost repeatedly. So I head off through Godalming to Milford then onto the A283 Petworth road, through Witley and turn off at the sign for Witley Station which is actually in Wormley(?) From here I am in unmarked territory and know that if the sun is either ahead of me or to my left I am going in roughly the right direction. Again through some minor A roads and beautiful countryside I burst back into civilisation at Grayswood and the A286 I was hoping to come out in Haslemere but took a wrong turn.. Here I know I have to go down through Haslemere and not turn off til around Fenhurst with the intention of coming out around Hill Brow, Again great minor A roads, very little traffic, if any and beautiful country side, I turned wrong again and came out at Rogate on the A272. From here its a blat upto Petersfield on the faster road, avoid Petersfield by hopping onto the A3 to the next junction, next time I'll use Steves suggested little Switzerland route, rejoin the A272 towards Winchester, beware between Bordean and Stroud there is often a safety camera van, so drive safely,( How they can tell that you have your eyes closed and have headphones plugged in under a fullface helmet I don't know!) At Lasngrish I turn left and do the little road through East Meon coming out at West, turn right on the A32 and head to Loomies!

    IMG_1079.jpg

Great atmosphere with a BBQ and live music, seen it busier but a nice mixture of bikes, met SteveJ with his beautiful red Daytona, that's him in front of it in the pic. Had a tea and cake and the necessary before heading off to Arundel and Whiteways Café. This is straight along the A272 again. I had the intention of turning right at Petworth on the A285 then using some small roads to get to the A29 to take me up to Whiteways, but, I knew things had gone too well and ended up turning right onto the A286 in Midhurst!! At least it gave me the pleasure of riding through Cocking where to my amusement I pictured the look on my wifes face when she asks me "where have you been today?" "Cocking!" I will reply giggling behind my hand. Anyway with this detou unsurprisingly I couldn't find the turning I was looking for and ended up at Chichester and the A27. Headed along here then up the A29 through Slindon to Whiteways.

Short break for tea and pee and headed for Storrington via Amberly stopped in at a friends at Pulborough for more tea then headed home along the A29 to A24 passing Rykers as it had gone 7 and Home.
Left home at 10:30 then 12:00 the second time and returned about 7:30 did 160 beautiful sunny miles
