Well the first leg of my mini tour has completed with a 182 mile trip up to Newcastle. Apart from a short trip around Manchester on the M60 the rest of the trip was on A and B roads up through Yorkshire. Having a little rest before heading south again to Ripon.
Ah Ripon is a nice (tiny) city, not loads to see there but worth a look all the same. Not sure what your plans are or where you've been but can highly recommend passing by Pateley Bridge, Grassington and Kettlewell if you've not hit those towns. Lovely roads!

No mate. Had the t’bird over three years now. This is my touring bike, the speed twin is tucked up at home in the garage. Just about to set off on our eastern Yorkshire ride. Pictures to follow.

Well completed our 174 miles ride yesterday. Rained most of the morning, but got out fine later on. Stopped in Helmsley having rode down the B1257, which is a cracking road. Had to pay to park the bike in the town centre, what is that all about? Anyway had a coffee then headed of to Whitby for fish and chip lunch.. Final leg from Whitby up to Newcastle for the night. A few well earned beers and bed.
Never paid to park in Helmsley despite being there loads of times although it does say so on the floor. Tucked round the back is a nice little cafe with about x20 ice cream flavours and they warned me the wardens are mustard. They have a little yard so I pull it into there.
So..."the wardens are mustard"?? Ok, that's a new one to me. What does that mean, Eldon?? Yep, I learn something new on this forum every day, whether I want to or not. I'd love the little cafe with all the ice cream. Ice cream is GOOD!
