    Afternoon all,

Hope everyone is well, I just have a quick question regarding luggage for the Thunderbird Storm.

At the moment I cant quite afford to get the Triumph panniers but I am looking to do a few nights camping in a couple of weeks when I am off work.

So I am thinking I am going to be looking at the throw over style of panniers but I am concerned about it damaging the paint work as I assume I will have to attach them under the rear seat to keep them secure? does anyone know of a good, and preferably inexpensive, way I can protect the paint work?

Also looking at a tank bag as well but is same problem with that as I will be gutted if I scuff the paintwork.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

Great news, glad to help. I use the same stuff on my tank when using my tank bag.

Someone mentioned some plastic see through stuff but it all seemed to be very sticky and I didnt fancy putting some sticky plastic all over the bike, I'm not sure if it was designed to stay there permanently but would rather have some matting stuff I can put on and take off as needed

That clear plastic film is surprising good in certain circumstances. I've used it on several occasions to protect the front fork legs for example, but I think the non-slip mat is better to protect against abrasion caused by luggage.

All sounds good to me, suppose was one benefit of having the Explorer in that it was specifically designed for carrying lots of stuff, not saying it can't be done on the T'Bird but I must practise the art of packing a bit more as don't fancy getting to somewhere and finding my tent has fallen off at the end of my drive at home!
