Ever tried "rub n buff" ? No it's not sexual just pure pleasure of rubbing slowly. Brill for cast forks, engine cases and tarnished bolt heads!!

 

I use running n buff on all sorts. It's a guilding wax kind of like a boot polish for tired finishes on metals and other stuff. I use mainly silver but they do gold, copper pewter and more.
It's brill for carbs, cylinder heads, even dull wheel spokes and rear sprockets that are grim. All nuts and exposed threads get done even brake disc centres I go over. If you've old chrome that's pitted in rusty brown just knock the tops off and wipe a cloth over in silver to freshen it back up again.
It's not an answer to a chroming job but just makes a nice go of dressing up an old machine.

It's nothing like brasso - Robin, brasso is a stripping abrasive, this is a wax.

Wayne- just on eBay or better still any good quality art and craft shop. Rub nBuff is a trading name. Just look under guilding wax. Go on google images, look for rub n buff on metal there's some brilliant pics.

 

Ive bought the full range as I like to be prepared. Silver and gold are the bigest pots as they are the most used. Start off with silver for now, you'll be fascinated with the stuff and want to polish anything thats near. Ive even used the stuff on the side of links of transmission chains in gold!!
