Hi all, thanks for the addition to the forum. Old timer here from Pontefract Yorkshire. I have recently passed my mod 1 test and am taking my mod 2 in a couple of weeks. I am starting out when most at my age are hanging up the keys. I bought a Kawasaki er500 about 15 years ago and as I didnt have a bike licence to ride it it has been stored in a container ever since along with a Suzuki gs 400. I have not seen them since they were put away and intend to refurb the er500 after I pass my test then sell it and look for a nice T100. Thanks john.
Welcome John, congrats on your mod 1 pass, and good luck for the mod 2. 15 years locked away in a container eh? Sounds like it’ll be a full strip and rebuild. Make sure you start a rebuild thread. Even if it’s not a Triumph it’ll be interesting to many here. Good luck with the work, there’s lots of helpful souls on here should you need it.
Fifthwheel Welcome to the family. Do keep us all in the picture on the bike front. You already have two very neat machines there. Are they imports by any chance. Regards Joe
Not imports if I remember right, both bought unseen on ebay all those years ago. The er 500 had a rusty exhaust even then, the rest looked very good its from 1997. The Suzuki gs 400 was bought with the key missing so I never had it running its a 1977/8. I think the two of them cost around £1000. The er will be well down now and not worth much but I think the gs400 will have appreciated and made up for the other bikes loss. thanks john.
Welcome, John. A Ponte lad eh? No harm in that! I was born and bred just down the road in Ferrybridge and was (sort of!) educated at The King's School. I even lived in Ponte for about 12 years (Nevison area) before being lured away by the bright lights of Goole. Ah well ........ !
Thanks for the welcome, not exactly Pontefract but thats our postal town, we live in a little village nearby. john
