First Corner Crash From Anglesey Sun 11th August

Apologies for those that followed my NG Racing Anglesey thread for duplicating some footage.

I did post the 2 YouTube links in the race report from Anglesey but my son also took a load of photos so thought this worthy of it's own thread, 4 riders went down, numerous others took to the grass to avoid the carnage. Lewis Rees (#70) caught the back of another bike in first corner & went down which then had a domino effect across the corner, his bike collected Elliot Peach (#105), Matt Jones (#69) & John Ward (#5), the later ended up as the filling in a Bandit sandwich (ouch!).

Fortunately only 1 rider ended up in hospital, Lewis had 6 broken ribs & a punctured lung, so best wishes to him for a speedy recovery, I have spoken to John Ward today who says he felt like he had been hit my a truck but was already starting to feel better.

Both Elliot & Matt were relatively unscathed but their bikes not so, both had bent forks, discs, bars etc as well has dents a scrapes, so an expensive incident for them!

Yes mate, it tends to happen that way, as in, OK to Oh! F@ck in a split second!
I think Lewis might be released from hospital this afternoon, but his season is over, a real shame as he is in the shoot out and had finished 2nd in the race before.

 

If I am honest mate it is the only first corner incident in our class that I can remember all year, considering we are racing very heavy commuter bikes with minimal upgrades & basic brakes, is somewhat of a miracle!
