A statistics how many bikes are affected would be interesting. I have the impression that some bikes are doing well, others don't. Maybe it can be identified which parts cause the 4th gear problem, I do not think that the Quickshifters are the only reason. Maybe the tolerance margin is to narrow and some gearboxes do not work well enough with the QS.

A list of failures caused this problem.
Started with the bracket touching the qs unit, not engaging gears correctly.
Mines had the new bracket fitted and a new qs unit (still missing gears)
The bikes now booked in for a shift rod replacement but that parts on back order
You should be able to adjust the timing of the gear change, but you cant, i honestly think this problem would be sorted if you could.
It would be good to know how many bikes are affected, i do believe the more people email triumph to complain the better, i did yesterday so i'll be waiting for a response.

Popped into my dealer today with a friend who wanted to test some bikes and was surprised to hear my gear box part had arrived.
Without even asking for a time and date to book it in, the service manager asked me if i had an hour or 2 to spare cos he'd fit the part himself whilst i waited.
What an absolute legend of a lad!!! so without hesitation he whipped rosies gizzids out and replaced them with the new ones.
Ive not yet used the quickshifter but i will keep you all posted on whether this is my final fix and the end to this problem for me.
A big thankyou to Newcastle triumph for a great service.

So I hope it will work for you. I have the feeling that mine works at best in the low rpm range till 5k and then over 8k and with the sport mapping. Good luck again!

Assembly part T1190309 by the sounds of it! - has also been ordered for my bike.

I also took a look at one, and my god theyre made of cheese! nothing like as robust (or light weight) as the items my company produces.

You're incorrect. I wont cite my credentials as I have done earlier in the thread. Just shut up and stop trying to explain things that you don't understand.

    Contrary to your 'opinion':
The QS does NOT cut the ignition on this bike.
The QS DOES work correctly at low revs.
The QS shift time DOES vary based upon engine revs, load, gear position.

NO, the owner can not adjust any of this (currently) as it is pre-set by triumph.

I appreciate you're only trying to help, but by your own admittance, you don't even own a speed triple so couldn't possibly understand the troubles that the owners such as myself are experiencing.

Time for an update. I mentioned a couple pages back that I wished that I bought something else, as I was still very upset. Now that I’ve been enjoying the bike, and after a test ride on a S1000R, I couldn’t be happier. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still pissed about what happened and the lost time, but I truly love my RS. She’s everything I could want, well I guess a working quickshifter would be everything, but the more I ride her the more I appreciate the bike. I’ve decided to order a regular shift rod to replace the quickshifter. I don’t want anything to do with that device. Plus with the regular rod I’ll be able to adjust the shift lever where I want it, which will be nice. With the quickshifter rod the lever was up a little too high for my preference.

Steve, don’t pay for that part, it comes standard on the bike, so you bought it.
If they did not supply it with the bike at point of sale (I’m sure you bought new?) then they have an obligation to supply you with one for free now if you wish to swap back otherwise they have kept back parts of your bike, which you purchased, without consent.

I always make sure to keep any original parts when I upgrade a bike or have it upgraded incase I wish to do as you are and revert to standard.

Last week I also experienced issues with 4th gear after the quick shifter malfunctioned and I experienced an incomplete shift. I had had the incomplete shifts happen a couple of times since I owned the bike, but only had issues with

I just got a call back from the dealer and they are easily able to replicate the problem and verify that it is popping out of 4th gear. Triumph has asked them to get my ok to remove the motor and do a tear down to determine the issue. I have given the OK, there is no way that this isn't a warranty issue. And if there is any push back I'll lose my sh*t.

The ideal outcome for me will be getting the issue with 4th gear fixed, the updated shifter clamp assembly and either extending my warranty or something in writing stating that if this happens again that it will be fixed as part of a pre-existing problem.

I have a couple of questions:

1 - Has anyone with OUT the QS installed had an issue with 4th gear?

2 - Out of those that have had the revised clamp installed, who has had the "false neutral" or incomplete shifts while using the QS?

3 - Would anyone be willing to share a contact at Triumph NA (or UK) that has been involved in these issues? Or a case number?

Have you read this entire thread, as some answers are here in this thread. There is also another thread titled quickshifter problems. If you haven’t read through them both, you need to.

I did read this thread, I don't recall seeing answers to my questions ... but I will look again. I'm not sure if I went through the other thread, but I will have a look.

With the revised linkage arm some have had a resolution, others including myself have not. When I have spoken to Triumph NA they have been aware of the issue.

I suspect Triumph NA will report to him regardless, so mention his name next time you speak with them. Pete is the lead guy in the UK, so probably global!
