I rode the long way see my sister this morning, had a coffee and a chinwag then headed to Henstridge airfield cafe for a small full English and what turned out to be a large summer fruit crumble and custard
Headed home then to finish my screen project followed by a short test ride.

 

I have done feck all with mine as it still in the bloody shop waiting to be fixed (warped discs under shop warranty ) had it a month a rode it twice

 

Ace Cafe on Sunday

 

that's my old manner lived down there all my life. as a kid we used to go to Chelsea bridge every Friday and Saturday night on the bike for the big meet then race to Heston services (the die hard's did anyway) then on a Sunday box hill. they were the days.I lived up the road from the ace cafe but it was closed in the early 80s as it closed in 68 or 69 i think then re opened in the late 90s.

 

Oh, and got back home from Switzerland with a stop over in Strasbourg and Reims. Total of 2694 miles in 10 days

 

Got the bike MOT'd today for the 22nd time (if I've got me sums right!). Sailed through again! I even managed to miss the rain showers!! Deep joy!!!


Bloody hell!! Here's scary thought. If, over the last 22 years, the average price of an MOT is around £25 then its cost me some £550 to keep the bike on the road, on that alone. Then there's insurance, servicing, brakes, tyres, chains, sprockets, batteries, oil, filters, polish (I do like shiny!) and many other things I've treated it to. Fortunately the joy and pleasure we've had on it has more than outweighed the cost.

 

Just don't think about it mate - it'll take the fun out of it.

 

Agreed. The memories are superb. Glad I was there!!

Can't sell or give away the wife, heck mine was court ordered to 90 days in the assylem in November. Due to to mental issues, her son's agreeded. Crazy people just don't realize there crazy. $10k and counting. I should have reported the two stabbings a few years ago but didn't Ok because she has religion. Another $5+k on demon caster out specialists I had flown in. Welcome to my world LOL. The bike is my get away for a few hours of bliss, hammer down on a deserted roads in kansas on a 765 street triple.

 

The biking gods we're being mischievous today. Was all kitted up and ready to roll for an all day bike ride, turned ignition on, pressed start, and after the relay <click> ... nothing, instruments powered off and bike dead; bugger. Tried turning it of and on again, still dead. Obviously something like a blown fuse, but fuses blow for a reason, and that's likely bad. So off with riding kit, panniers back in house, and bike wheeled back round back to work on it.

Whilst pulling fuses to test them I suddenly hear a familliar whirry buzzy noise, seems like I'd left ignition turned on and me messing with fuses had brought things back to life. Guess one of the fuses has come a bit loose and I'd fixed it, hurray, bike ride is go again!

So, before setting off I had checked the weather forecast for home and my destination (Lincolnshire wolds) and decided that sunny intervals and high teens temperature meant I would be OK in T-shirt, leather jacket and riding jeans. (Fool!) After an hour or so, the mostly sunny skies had become mostly cloudy and I was chilly enough to wish I had a jumper and lined gloves. By the second hour there was the odd spot of rain and I was thinking that bringing waterproofs might have been a wise move. By the third hour, when I was just about furthest from home, the skies opened and soaked me though. The fourth hour also gave me a soak, just when I was starting to dry off. And the fifth hour satnav sent me via a ford, I stopped and peered; it looked about ankle deep and decided to risk it; so of course ended up with soaked legs and feet. By the sixth hour, the biking gods took pity and gave me two hours of sun, traffic free twisties and green traffic lights when coming through home city at rush hour. So on the eight hour I got to rest with some dry socks and a beer, cheers!

 

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Having a family member hospitalised is tough and you tried what options suited your circumstances.

Personally, being a Scientist I struggle to comprehend the ethereal approaches people choose, but respect and am not (I hope) too judgemental of those that do.

It sounds like YOU had a pretty nasty time of it - hiding the trauma these situations can cause - hidden and un-mentioned.

The 765 is a blessing.

 

Went to the license plate office (took a day off work) as my 60 day temporary tag will expire soon. Three hours later I am $270 USD poorer, and they no longer stock plates, and ship them to you from the state capital. So I got another cardboard temporary plate for a few weeks. Title will be 5-6 weeks out, so even if you buy a bike and don't like it, you can't sell it or trade it for 5-6 weeks. Dealer's get special expedited service. Was starving by the time I got out of the tag office. went a few blocks to the posh Scotch & Sirloin restaurant and had the $19 3/4 lb prime rib sandwich, salad and baked potato. Fresh horseradish was a little weak this time. I have never been to this joint at night, and maybe lunch there once a year when somebody else is paying. They tell me it's easy to spend $200 at night for a dinner for two without drinks at this joint.

 

And mean while in my house

Sorting the garage out bud..... painting the walls, floor and having a radiator fitted..... 3 of them are spending the night in the house, the others are having a sleep over next door.

I was pleasantly surprised by $270, I thought it was going to be double or triple that per year since it was a new vehicle. I own 6 vehicles most of them at least 15 years old to avoid the taxes. Car lots are full of nearly brand new cars, once the owners realized it's $100+ per month for taxes.

 

180km run to visit a mate who’s wife passed recently, managed to run with rain most of the way.
Got to destination and sunny at home and here??
