It looks reasonably aerodynamic ! And the passenger would appear to be fully enclosed ! Very advanced thinking from this fella , but like most radical changes , too much too soon for the average Joe to get his mind around !
Solar panels took 30 to 40 years to catch on !?!? There are some Very old industrial systems still operating in Europe.

 

A true concept bike, well ahead of its time....

 

The Streamline model, commonly called the "KJ", appeared in 1929, and featured improved cooling and a return to the IOE (inlet over exhaust) valve configuration, gave 40 bhp @ 4000 rpm. It had a five main bearing crankshaft, and down draft carburetion. Advertisements boasted of "57 New Features".

The Streamline was fast - capable of a genuine 100 mph (160 km/h), and advanced for its time, with such features as leading-link forks and an illuminated speedometer built into the fuel tank.

The Streamline model was produced from 1929 until 1931, and sold for $435.

 

Ha! The Jetsons is EXACTLY what I thought of when I saw the photo that David Cooper posted! It looks retro and futuristic (not to mention bloated) all at the same time!

 

Thought it was a new Harley Road King ...

 

They‘d probably call it ‚Air Bob‘...

Oh and I think it comes as no surprise to you all: I like it.
@capt said it before: the avg. Joe sticks to the conservative principles in design, and he still might call himself progressive. The Horex Regina or the Bonneville are 2 great examples: only a very few people would call them ugly.
But if we start seeing things in terms of ‘what would be possible while breaking with tradition’ we venture into unknown territory.
For me ‘ugly’ defines an object, where the proportions don’t fit. (Think BMW bike with roof, or - I have to admit - this bike’s front)
All else is matter of taste.
Do not get me wrong: in most ways, I’d consider myself being an average Joe. But I like to keep
a little door open, to let the extraordinary in...
I am pretty sure, I would not have bought this bike in 1930. But it would have been damn interesting
to talk to the guy who did.

And @Dozers Dad , I fully agree with your cat-scheme: are you into German Bock lately???

I would love to have bought this bike when it was "new concept' back in the day ! I bought a Laverda RGS 1000 in 1983 when 120° triple's were far from the Norm ! It was fast stable and very quiet ! Two of those changed a great deal , on went Jota Slater replica mufflers and it got much much faster with some judiciously applied tweaks to the engine and drivetrain !!

This streamliner looks like you'd be hardly able to get it to go any faster ! Only option would be to make the metal body works out of carbon fibre, plastics or fibre glass ?
