Having owned my Tiger 1050 se since February, about my 6 or 7th Triumph in past decades. Ive had loads and load of chats with bikes when ive stopped at the well know Southern bikers cafes. See am a nice chap sometimes but a grumpy lone most of the time. Most of these are from non Triumph owners. Ive never had another Triumph owner come up for a chat, sorry but most come over as a bit snobby and standoffish, sticking to their own little group. Most Jap bike riders who just want a chat, not about bikes but everyday things. Ive asked a few what they think of my bike, not the mods but the design and overall look. And the answer it looks very Japanese. To be honest i sort of agree with them it does look like a UJM sports/tourer. Were the Tigers designed with that in mind? The design team must have other bikes in mind. Ive asked them about the Scambler and Bonnies models and they come back to me "old man's bikes" and Triumph just stick a Bonnie engine in a frame and call it something else. I can sort of agree with them to a point. So on one side, we have the Jap look and on the other, we have old mans Retro
What's your views as a Trumpet owner?

I don't care really if they say my Tiger is crap, i like it. It's just interesting what non Triumph owner think of the range.

For me if you like/love your bike that is all that is important, you should just ignore what others think and enjoy it.

Agreed it's nice just to know what non Trumpet owners think of the marque. Some are very horse blinkered about others makes available on the market. Me i don't care what others think as my bike more or less does everything i need.

How do others see my bike....?
Usually from behind and getting smaller quickly

    They usually hear it first:)

I get compliments, it's a unique colour scheme with eye catching led headlights

You won't see another like it and I even had a thumbs up from a Harley Davidson rider when I was waiting at lights

Yep the conversation always goes that way with the more senior people that stop and look at your bike. I had it on the Thursday that we rode up to Bellingham at the hotel where @crispey and @steve lovatt were staying with my street twin. An old chap in the car park thought it was an original triumph and was very surprised when I told him it was only three months old...

Only on my 3rd bike, first triumph (street triple R). I was never stopped and spoken to when I had my Suzuki since getting the triumph I've been stopped in town, inside Tesco in car parks from people wanting to talk about it. The headlights are certainly marmite, I love them but my pal can't stand them so he bought a GSXR750 instead, even though he wouldn't ever see the headlights when riding

You want attention, buy a Tuono, every biker comes over for a chat.

Usually to check if you are mental or just brave, to actually buy one !!!

Fugly,,,,,I remember @Dozers Dad on the Thursday evening at the bunkhouse with drink in hand you telling me about someone naming their bike Fulgy to try and deflect from what I said about that model of bike and we laughed about it

In a laughing mood I suppose it could now be called ‘Warping Fugly’

When I first saw the Speeds I thought they were fugly, slowly, incrementally every time I looked at it, it grew more attractive.
I think all the manufactures are stealing style ideas from each other, some German bikes look Jap, and some Japs look like copies, etc. etc.

Obviously not read my post so I’ll requote the part about Warping Fugly “we not only laughed that the name Warping Fugly was called back then” .
    Which was Fugly.

No excitement here mate. I actually like the name "fugly" which is why after your quote on the speed twin I have adopted the name. We have different views on bikes, but that is ok cause that is what makes the world go around.
