Is is this the same tiger 800 I have just bought from you Ian..? You know
the one with the engine change you never mentioned...! And then when I asked you about the change you didn’t respond, then you blocked me on WhatsApp, then you changed your EBay ID...! Just wondering that’s all...! I thought a decent biker wouldn’t hide anything when selling a bike. I have found out most of the answers apart from one....why did you change the engine...? Look forward to your reply

I would have probably still bought the bike anyway Dougie...just a bit disappointed that a biker would cheat another biker...!

A new engine is a major thing not to mention when selling a bike, especially on a bike thats only 8 year old,it would be interesting to know why he needed to do this, maybe he was doing huge mileages on it?

    Awkward...

Hope you get it sorted. It’s really disappointing when stuff like that happens.

That’s a risk of private sellers - not so much legal protection. I found this if it helps...

Buying a used car or bike privately

    • You won't have the same legal protection as you would if buying from a dealer
    • It's up to you to ask the right questions and inspect the vehicle thoroughly before you buy.
    • It's a good idea to get a thorough car check to make sure there's no shady past.
Because your legal rights are more limited, unscrupulous dealers may masquerade as private sellers:

    • Be very wary if a private seller wants to meet you somewhere other than at their home, or if their name is not on the V5C registration document.
    • A dealer pretending to be a private seller is committing a criminal offence.
The only legal terms that cover a private sale contract are:

    • The seller must have the right to sell the car.
    • The vehicle should match the description given by the seller.
    • The car must be roadworthy – it is a criminal offence to sell an unroadworthy car and an MOT certificate from a test several months ago is no guarantee that the car is roadworthy today.

I don’t think we will find out, I think he will just hide again like he did when I approached him about the change

Prophetic...... he seems to have gone from Member to Guest. Mind you, Kilmun is tiny so not the best of hiding places. Pity he did not feel able to front up. It does leave you wondering why?
