I have been looking at R versions and love the Ohlins suspension just don’t know if my budget can justify the premium! Decisions decisions !
You could go for a non R and beef the suspension if you thought you needed it, mines not an R but it's all I could wish for, she's a cracker.
My bikes on flea bay classified advert 28 day listing just go on eBay type in 2011 speed triple,it’s on for either £4500 with scorpions or £4300 standard cans, just over 12k one previous owner FSH but one due few extras slight discount for forum members, was not 100% sure on selling but for right offer I would.
Hi Rob To be honest, the chances of the standard suspension being perfect (or close to) is pretty slim They are set up to cope with the average customer which could be anywhere between 9st and 13st I am 16st and 6'2", when I had the 2016 R the dealer couldn't upgrade the suspension for me and the Ohlins were bottoming out and I was not able to enjoy it May I recommend getting a less expensive low milage but slightly older bike and budget to upgrade front suspension (£100) springs and oil and rear (£600) Nitron R2 shock which would give you the ideal suspension set up for you and your riding style
Hi, very good choice The STR. I will be selling my 2016 66 plate mat Grey speed triple R with loads of extras. £7650 if of any interest to you.
I actually had that one on my watch list as it’s only 20 miles from me in Ayr. I think it’s due the big 12000mile service which I have been quoted at £600 !
That’s what triumph would charge robbing twats independent probs half that, more than welcome to view any inspections welcome, if it’s not sold at listing end it’s staying with me until I’m fully healed.
Regarding difference in riding position between the R9T and the Speed Triple. I have both an R9T Pure and a Speed Dark so I'm able to put my tuppence worth in. If the R9T is a bit cramped for you I would say the Speed will be slightly more cramped. With the R9T it's a more situp riding position while the Speed is more over the front end. I'm 5'9" with a 30" inside leg and for me both Bikes are the perfect riding position. Best thing for you to do is take a test drive on a decent road which where you come from there are plenty.
That’s what I thought ! The speed triple looks more biased towards the front end whereas the R9t is more sit up style. All will be revealed tomorrow as I’m off to the local triumph dealers to have a test ride. If all goes well I have a 15 plate Speedy R in my sights !!
Anyone recommend an R over a standard speed triple? I know it’s nice to have nice shiny gold Ohlins gear but..... Do they really make that much difference for general road riding ? No racing or track days just sunny day ride outs ?
