    Hi
just back to biking with aTriumph America, but still have my helmet from 4 yrs ago. It's a flip up type and as it is not quite the helmet for the style of bike, is it still legal to wear it if i remove the flip -up part. It looks okay and i don't think it compromises the integrity of the helmet.
    thanks in advance
    Paul

Thanks for the reply Half Ton.
I'm pretty sure the helmet has not been stressed but the Gendarmes over here are worse than them there critters.
I will stick with what i have for now as my first priority is a bike lift
    thanks again
    Paul

Most flip front helmets I know of are not homologated to be used without the flip front in position. Roof helmets are and I believe the new Shark is. Then again the French have their own laws about helmets so none of this may be useful!

Hi Paul, really? You find "Les Poulets" difficult? Not had any trouble with them myself and if you heard my pipes you might understand my surprise.

Re helmets, so long as they are E-marked, you're good to go.

I do know it is illegal here in the UK to ride with the flip front raised. Not sure what the result would be if completely removed. But really be better to buy a new open face some great bargains out there.
    Joe.

The new open face one that I bought in UK cost me £35 (off the shelf bargain) is BSI and E-marked, very comfortable and has a built-in, slide-down, tinted visor. It's just excellent and has taken the place of the pee-pot old style one.

Wouldn't entertain an open face helmet each to their own I guess... so happy with C3 though, peace

Although I agree with you in principle Karl I have to say I've spent the last week in 100+ degree heat and the flip front has been " up" all the time.

As soon as it cools down or starts raining normal service will resumed.

Makes me laugh when people say it must be great to be on a bike when it's hot........
