What a waste of time! Another "ignore this thread" thread.
I won't be getting involved at all (but I don't want to miss anything). :D:D

I believe that this is now officially known as "FOMO"

    FOMO
    /ˈfəʊməʊ/
    noun
    INFORMAL
    1. anxiety that an exciting or interesting event may currently be happening elsewhere, often aroused by posts seen on social media.
"I realized I was a lifelong sufferer of FOMO"

I'm reminded (not sure why) of "this page is intentionally left blank."

    Why?
To stop people asking if they're missing something because they have a blank page in their manual.
My problem is that it says it's blank, but it isn't, it's got writing on it telling me it's blank... ...but it isn't!
Oh for feck sake!!! Would you like a blank page to replace the page telling you it's blank?
    Yes please :)

I could have lived with that, Ron.
I used to write training manuals, and standards dictated that blank pages had to be labelled as such or we'd get a comment back from the review process, "Page x.y is blank. Is it meant to be?".

P.S. what am I meant to be ignoring? If I don't know what it is, I might accidentally not ignore it...

I didn't start the paradox, Standards did...

    I feel I'm slipping into a scene from Catch-22

If you're genuinely confused, you can ignore this thread, but by claiming to be confused, you clearly understand that the thread is confusing and are therefore not confused and must continue to contribute. The genuinely confused are too confused to realise that they are confused and will continue contributing anyway.

    Catch-22. It's a hell of a catch.

Will this rain never stop? I'm bored being inside...

I'd have suggested asking Joseph Heller, the author, but he didn't quite see the 21st century come in. Apparently the first chapter of the book was originally published as a short story called Catch-18. But when the completed book was published, the name was changed to Catch-22.

Catch-18 really doesn't have the same ring to it. If you haven't read the book or seen the film, it is an anti-war satire about an American bomber squadron in WWII. The catch (22) briefly was that if a pilot was insane, he'd be grounded and wouldn't need to fly any more missions. But if a pilot went to the Doc and said he was insane and didn't want to fly any more, he clearly wasn't insane and had to keep flying. The insane pilots kept flying, although they could have been grounded by going to see the Doc. Except, that would prove that they weren't insane.

Looking at the BBC news website this morning, and I find that George Clooney is doing a remake of Catch-22 for television! What a coincidence - we (I?) were just talking about Catch-22.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-48394921

My favourite book is going to become a TV series. A two-hour movie couldn't do the book full justice, but maybe a TV series can. Or it could just be a rambling mess of confusion.

A bit like this thread, really. :)
