So, got the bike back delivered to me on Friday after the garage had it for 2 weeks. First ride today and after 60 miles, guess what ! Yep same again so back it goes......again!
They spoke to triumph and were told to do a pin test with the system, basically go through every wire on the system to find the fault. Still hasn’t worked, it was fine for a 30-40 miles then happened again like before
Yes I’m hoping for a decent run on Wednesday. Saw the motorbike show and he was doing St. Ives to lands end so gonna head down the North coast on Wednesday before the crowds ruin it.
I've not had any issues at all with my QS - but given that it was one of the first on the road (in 31 March 2018), I thought I'd check. It's on the paddock stand and I've just run through 1st to 6th and back down (with engine running) several times and nothing catches anywhere. I thought I'd be able to work out what you were saying...does yours look like this Pete?
I got mine back yesterday from triumph, the picture below shows where the quickshifter has been catching the link arm. Triumph provided a new machined part(as shown in the pic on the bike) but on the way back it hit a false neutral again so they're ordering me a new quickshifter, cos they can't rule out if hitting the lever arm has damaged the sensor, so I'll be popping back next Saturday to have it changed over. If your having no problems with yours MrTriple your a lucky man hahaha
Pete my selector arm has a mark on it like yours, come to think of it , it’s only upshifts where it doesn’t engage then throws the fault, I reckon this must be the fault
Another thing I've noticed in comparison to my pic and MrTriples is his shaft seems to be a tad more extended than mine, which will give it more of a positive motion when changing up.
With the changed part gear changing felt totally sweet and easy, just felt better. I hope my post helps you get yours sorted dude.
Mate don't say sorry, I was chuckling to myself writing that out...... Mrtriples shaft is considerably larger than mine
Thanks for that pete, mine has the same mark so I reckon it’s happening the same as yours, the quickshifter is on a ball joint hence why it may not happen for everyone as small deviations in the foam on the right of it may just be enough for the unit not to hit the arm. You said you hit a false neutral, what gear was it between?
Do you reckon there was meant to be a washer between the ball jojnt arm and the selector arm?, if there was then the unit wouldn’t hit the arm, just a thought
Problems happen matey it's down to the manufacturer to sort..... my local dealer has been absolutely fantastic, giving me loads of bikes to have a go on whilst mines been away, I do understand alot of people would be sick at this point.
Enjoy, my local run, it seems better heading east rather than west for some reason (better views). Sennon is a much nicer stop than Lands End IMO and if you make a stop at St Ives ignore the no vehicle signs and head for the harbour wall, there's a bike parking area just in front of the harbour masters office.
So Pete, I've just been in the garage, trying to measure the length of my shaft, but it's impossible. Have you seen how exact the instructions are...146.7mm! That doesn't leave any room for error As already said, mine is working fine (very slick in fact), but I tend to use it predominantly with gears 1 to 3, reverting to the clutch for the less hurried, higher gear changes. So what's this bit that I've arrowed in your photo below? It looks like a bit of foam padding?
Yes the measurements are very precise I agree. That in the picture is the part that's been machined to the size of the shifter switch, when I get home I'll take another pic of it because it does look like foam padding I agree.
My dealer can’t look at mine till end of next week ,so that’ll be another 2 weeks without my bike, alll in all it’s been in the garage for 7 weeks this year. Always great when the weather warms up and leaves you with no bike. I sent them the pics of the adjuster arm being machined out and they said they couldn’t do it themselves as it would void the warranty I’ve told them to contact triumph and ask them what to do, as I’m not standing this much longer
Bloomin eck that’s so frustrating! It’s the reason I went from Ducati to Triumph. Seems weird cos with the Street triple all I’ve heard is good things ref reliability and QS. I’d want a loan bike cos Sod’s law you get bike back and the weather will be rubbish.
