    Just ordered a thruxton, should pick her up next week. Never even ridden one, sat on my mates bonneville and thought " yeah why not"

    Massive shift in direction as I am a Ducati owner but want to sample the cooler relaxed side of biking

    So what am I really in for?

    I had a Duke in the past and I would say there are similarities and differences.

    Similarities : character by the bucketful, loads of modification options and bits to personalise the bike;

    Differences : If you want to work on these bikes it's perfectly feasible and with the help of an OBD cable and TuneECU free download, you can talk to the bike - unlike the Dukes !!! Depending on which Duke you had, the Thruxton will feel down on power but there are loads of cheap things you can do to boost it.

    Basically the Bonny range of bikes give character, style and class. If that's what you want, you'll love it.

    Hey Gaz69, welcome into the forum, Just over a year ago I decided to get back into biking, told the wife, she thought it was good idea as long as it was a bike I could use for commuting and touring. A guy I worked with arrived on a Thruxton and that was it. I looked for a month or so and found one that was calling out to me on ebay. The missus didn't see it until I rolled it out the back of the Transit, picked it up the other end of England. I am just short of 60 and love it. Mine was moddded with predator pipes. chromed casings ttp airbox and tune. I' ve changed the rear guard and light cluster You can twist the bars round to make it a more bonnnie style ride and you can do so much more, wallet & wife permitting.

    After having a sh*t load of bikes inc four dukes in the past the bonneville range have so much to offer as they are very 'modular' and are very like big lad has said. They seem to be long term keepers compared to other crap out there. Eric
