Thanks mate v helpful .. Sorry took so long to reply but couldn't log on .. and kinda gave up trying lol
Got the lights repositioned finally and tidied other stuff up so here's how she sits at the moment. I doubt I will do much else until I can afford an upside down fork conversion.
Liking the fact that you've saved a knackered Daytona from the breakers... and love those levers ..... but that headlight conversion is a bit too Sci Fi for me ... a bit "bug eyed" .. personally I'd have added clip ons and a round headlamp to copy the original speed triple (beautiful bike).
Hi guy's, gradually doing bits n bobs as time and money allows. Changed the front brake reservoir as I thought it was a bit much and it leaked slightly so got a nice small black ally one. Also added some wheel gfx as they just felt like a black block front and rear, some may like em some not but I do so wth ;-)
It's been a little while since I have done any actual work on the bike as tbh I've been too busy riding her but the weather was nice today and I thought I should do some bits I've been planning for a while. Now as she stands something that's been bugging me is that although I actually like the original clocks, they are pretty huge and also the amount of wiring coming from them and the fact that they are designed to be IN a fairing means the back of them isn't designed to be on show and mounting them firmly yet pleasing to the eye is a nightmare. So, off they come and I can lose about 80% of the wiring. But this introduces a few problems of it's own. What to do about a Speedometer? What to do about a Rev Counter? What to do about the Idiot Lights? And lastly... I don't actually LIKE it that bare. Now the Speedo I already have a fix for in the form of an app for Smartphones called Ulysse Speedometer. I can use this on my current Samsung Note 4 but I will purchase another Smartphone just for this purpose on a PAYG tariff for about £25. Rev Counter and Idiot Lights I will come to later. So what to do about the look of the front end? Now I have the original Tinted Screen from the trashed fairing but obviously this is much to big to just stick up front. So out comes the Dremel... And a lot of cutting, sanding and cursing later Voila! And on the Bike (not fixed in place yet). So not sure weather to leave it as is (Smoked) or cover it in Carbon Fibre to match the Hugger, Chain Guard, Exhaust etc, might hit PS and post up some ideas. Also thinking the Headlight brackets might look nice Anodised Gold but again I will PS some ideas first. Comments are more than welcome as always. So anyway, as I said earlier Rev Counter and Idiot Lights... well I will post up some teasers of what I am working on atm to give you an idea. So there you have it and as always I will keep you posted.
Hi Dai-san, if you are going to post loads of pics - which is great btw - if might be an idea to change the pic setting in your camera/phone so the file sizes are a fair bit smaller. Alternatively you can use a free-to-download program called Pixresizer and shrink the existing pics you have. Smaller file sizes makes it easier to upload them to the forum plus MUCH quicker to view them.
That's exactly what I was trying to say to Dai-san. Too big a pictures are a pain in the proverbial. He's doing some really interesting work made difficult to follow by the pic file sizes.
It's not a problem, I'll stop posting em. I don't upload them to the forum anyway they are all hosted on my domain and if people want to stick with there 14k modems then that's fine with me I'll just keep posting them on forums that don't have an issue like customfighters.com
Hi Dai-san, I didn't mean to offend you, I would like to see what you're doing, it's a very interesting project and looks as though it'll be a really smart end result. It would be a shame if you don't continue posting.
I'm not offended mate I just noticed that it seems to be your personal crusade to get people to reduce their picture size and to be frank it only takes a few seconds to load this thread even on my mobile so if people are so ADHD that they can't wait a few seconds to look at some pictures then that's their problem not mine. I do lots of work in PS so know all about various picture formats and conversion but they are as they are because some people like to be able to zoom in close to a particular detail and see how it was done etc.
Just got this now... doesnt really look to be in good shape, I like what you did with yours. Wish I could see how to get mine done that way.
