You could try cycling shorts (as an undergarment before any joker pipes up) with the chamios leather insert:p

Took the thunderbird LT for its first MOT, sailed through without any problems. Whilst I was waiting spoke to the sales team and it looks like my speed twin will turn up later this week. Could turn out to be a good week, despite the weather which looks p*ss poor.......

Yep hopefully I can find a break in the rain to collect it and get it home without getting wet. I want to give it a coat of ACF50 or FS365 before riding it out proper....

In my previous job working on military aircraft, I did a research piece on corrosion inhibitors and their effectiveness on different materials used on the aircraft.
Long story short, ACF50 came out as the best and longest lasting protection fluid, as long as it’s applied as recommended.
So it shows, the claims on the packaging about it being used on jet fighters isn’t a load of crap! :grinning:

There’s a variety of ways, brush on, spraying etc. The key is ensuring total encapsulation to prevent water and salt ingress.
The manufacturer gives advice for different applications here http://www.acf-50.co.uk/motorcycle.htm
Unfortunately, the attraction of dirt can’t really be helped as it stays sticky-ish to stay flexible and effective

This morning i changed the front and rear brake fluids. Even though the girls got a full Triumph service record the fluid looked very black and old. Fitted a pair of BMW GS1200 handlebar risers. Bought for 25e inc from eBay Germany. Straight fit. They raise the bars by about 30mm but as they are slightly angled back the bars closer to me. This is what i was looking for, still loads of play and slack in the cables. Bought new a Triumph 1050 ST 16/25ltr tank bag. A bargain at £35 off eBay. Even though it's not for my Tiger it fits well with a bit of giggery poke with the straps. Cleaned and oiled the chain(do it every 200 miles. No chain adjustment needed again).
This afternoon went to the steel stockest to buy some 16mm tubing and flat bar to fabricate some pannier frames. £50 and bit of bending, welding is a lot cheaper than spending £250 on H/B or SWMOTO ones. Should have these made up in a week. If my welder doest blow up again.

That's beginning to look great Jez, but that silencer has to go before you get a visit from the border force, you could get a dozen immigrants in there.

Dash cams don’t pick up a digital-salute, but will hear a crash and see a bike filter through... just saying... I bet there was space on his near side if he’d tried to block the off-side

What is the etiquette if you genuinely accidentally lightly tap a wing mirror - it defo ok - no breakage or damage...

I merely ask out of general curiosity...

  14. Tried to change pads on my Steamer Tiger's rear brake caliper but due to seized pad retaining pins I had to give up
Have now ordered a rebuild kit and once I drill out the retaining pins it will work

No not yet, fronts are needing done as well, was thinking drilling them out where threads are and using an easy out, if all fails then using long 5mm-6mm bolts with nyloc nuts

In detail 6mm thread bar with nyloc nuts either end then small springs between nyloc nuts and caliper

  16. There was bolts through the front calipers, not a bodge I like but would suffice to get through MOT and then providing the threads were not damaged install proper pins

  17. Small spring between pads ?

Nah that might impede pads closing enough, I will go with rattly pads as up here it's always windy so won't hear them lol

Changed the oil and put in a k&n air filter. Mileage was at 5k, I know the books say I can go to 10k but I just can’t make myself do it. I used Mobil 1 4t synthetic 10w 40. I e always been a fan of Mobil over Castrol, even though I know it really doesn’t matter. The air filter was just because I wanted to.
My warranty is not up till November but I opted to take care of it myself instead of letting the f*cktards at my closest dealer touch it, as they completely screwed up the last time and left the oil filter loose. I figure it’s a good time to check out the bike anyway.

Installed some safety lights that helped in yesterday’s rain. Can see my replacement shorty levers too.
