Couldn't find anything about this anywhere on the forum so apologies if it is somewhere else and I've only had a bloke's look in the fridge. Anyway, looking seriously at the current Tiger 800 which has LED headlights, whereas the previous two generations of Tiger had standard H4 halogen bulb units, which worked very well and were great for riding in/with at night, enabling you to keep up a decent pace, pretty much like daytime speeds.

Anybody who's had experience of both got anything good/bad/neutral to say about the LED units? Last thing I want to do is go back to the s**t ones that were on the Tiger/Sprint 1050!

I have the tiger 1200 Gen3 and I had the Gen1 before. The new LED units makes the old ones look like you was riding around with 1800 century oil lanterns installed. Massive improvement.

    Hi Martin,
I can't tell you about a previous Halogen bulb, but I moved from a BMW GS 800 with a modified HID light that definitely made me visible and but was a bugs magnet here in Canada and a nuisance for oncoming traffic or if you are riding in a group. Yesterday I brought my 2019 Tiger 800 XRT home from the dealer and it took more than I was expecting to have it ready, so eventually I had to ride after sunset which I wanted to avoid at this time of the year ( potholes, low temp, cagers not used yet to bikes after a long winter etc..) All what I can say is WOW !! The LED lights are awesome, the accessories lights added to the peripheral visibility so I didn't need to use the high beam at all. I don't miss my previous HID at all. I hope this would help
