I must admit they did my new front mudguard florescent yellow as the one on it was broken & did a first class job, but that was a new one that had already been gel coated, just needed a quick rub then spraying, my tank & seat unit are a little more distressed!

Do you have a Chips Away or Dent Doctor in your area, I have used them both in the past for similar damages with excellent results, wouldn't recommend any of the others though/

Can't find one. Have ordered on of the tools though. Also had a few quotes from various motorcycle paint shops and seems that £400 is the lowest price for a tank respray. I'll see how the tool works, I'm tempted to have it resprayed a new plain colour and change a few little bits here and there, but to be honest I'm not sure I have the time or energy at the moment to do it myself so may just put it through the insurance.

    Thanks all

You could probably DIY it and just fill the dents and do a single colour rattle can spray job and get pretty reasonable results.

Your totally correct, i do dent removal and I wouldn't touch this..... fuel tanks are a bastard.
Fill and respray is the only way.

Sorry, I disagree, I've had a dent removed from a fuel tank on a bike I bought some years ago, worked very successfully, worth a try anyway.

Your entitled to disagree bud.:joy:
I do pdr and couldn't get all that out anything by the fuel filler is a tw@t to push, to make it perfect it's fill and paint. I'd simply be a waste of money just to deley the necessary. :)

    Just wondering...

Has your wife recently been saying things like “you’re not going out on that bike again are you?”, “I think you like that bike more than me!”, or perhaps “I wish I’d never let you get that bike”?

I’m no psychologist but think those comments and the ‘accident’ could be linked...

I've ordered a little dent puller so will give it a try, got nothing to lose but don't think it will work. I'm a bit shocked at repair and paint prices, I've been all over the internet and any motorcycle paint shops are all pretty much the same, £400 and up. Much as the 'special' paint it has is very nice, and is similar to the burgundy and white Bonnie I had in 1978, I'm quite tempted to have it done a distinct plain colour now.

I think the wife quite likes to get rid of me when possible, so doubt she did it on purpose! I'm just glad it was the Bonnie and not the brand new custom sprayed Thruxton...

I did my back in trying to pick it up, and it has turned into sciatica, had to go to hospital this morning at 2:30am, pain was unbearable.

    Cheers

I showed the photo to the chap who does all my paintwork, he thinks between £300 and £350 to sort that out

I’d imagine as an apprentice he probably spent a lot more time on it trying to make it good.

Nice to give them a chance.

You can always sue the company if they were to duck it up.

    ;)

There is an advert in May 2019 Motorcycle Monthly (top of page 27) for motorcycle dent removal 'any tank, no cutting and no filling'. They have a website at www.motorcycledentremoval.co.uk and email contact [email protected] Tel 07968360225
It might be worth a look at the website or a quick call.
