Now that’s fixed I have a small oil leak from the sump area, checked the drain plug is secure. Only a few drops on the floor after a ride but not OK for a new bike; first service this week, hopefully it gets sorted

Maybe just residual oil from the o-ring leak, just migrating to your floor after it gets hot?

Don’t think so, it’s dripping off the sump plug; have given it a good wipe down a couple of times but keeps coming
Sump plug is forward of the dipstick which is why I doubt it, if it was further back I would think maybe

So my speed went into Gedges in Hastings yesterday, an hour and a half ride away but won’t take it to Lagunas which is nearer but I wouldn’t trust them with a kids toolkit let alone my pride and joy.

Went in to have heated grips fitted and the strange whistling noise as low revs looked at. They couldn’t work out where the whistling was coming from after checking the usual suspects so they took a video with sound and sent it to the triumph tech guys.

It’s going back in a few weeks for longer as triumph said they’d need to get a stethoscope on it to investigate further.

Heated grips were lovely on the way home!

Mystery looks to be solved, I had a look when it was up on the ramp at the dealer with belly pan removed, it was just a dodgy sump plug washer. All fixed and good to go.
Dealer had the trainee wash it with a grubby rag, now I’m trying to get white smears off the matte paint. Tried my arsenal of chemical guys matte cleaners but feels like it’s just moving around, any suggestions?

WD40 first, then chemical guys cleaner.
I use this method all the time now. Got the glue 'stain' left by those pesky fuel tank warning decals off after trying a few different options, WD40 rocks!

Haha, exactly what my garage should look like. Have a Speed Triple RS in black on order as a companion to my T120. Hopefully the Speedy will arrive next week...

Good for you, they make a nice pair but takes some adjustment switching from one to the other!

I rode the new speed twin the other day. If I could afford two bikes I’d definitely have one of them it was great.

Wouldn’t that be nice. That dip stick in this thing is horrendous.

Just posted this as an introduction....Dipstick oil leaks pale into comparison here!....picked the new Speedy up on 30th of March....unfortunately it's back at the dealers now with 277miles on and showing a major oil 'weep' from the LH side rear and front head gasket area....gutted!....the dealers said that they've never seen the 1050 motor leak here......bad head gasket perhaps?...any ideas?

You will see on here the many minor issues on the RS but generally I think we are mostly happy with our bikes. I replied to you other message too .. Good luck !

Got any pics of the offending areas? One RS owner had a leak from the right side of the head where the two small studs weren't tightened properly.

I think the head cover (cam cover) can often be mistaken for the head itself .

Developed a leak from the sump area on my 2010 Speed Triple
Was dripping onto the exhaust on start up.
Wiped the area as ean as I could, then took an 8mm socket to the screws and they were so loose. I was able to get a half turn on all of them just using my little finger on a 6" bar.
Must have been like this from the factory 9 years ago
    No more oil lek

I had similar issue with my 2010 S3 which I had from new, seemed a familiar problem to the dealer... anyway it never gave any trouble for 7 years after that when I traded in for my RS ...

Apologies for the repeat images!.....definitely not cam cover. The leak(s) are coming from the head gasket area just inside the boss at the back RH side of the head (image 4) and from the RH front of the head next to the cam chain 'chest' (image 2)....I also checked the tightness of the 2 outrigger screws on the head.

Triumph took my bike on the 11th march due to it finding false neutrals especially 4th5th6th I had these issues pretty much from 3 week of owning it , triumph factory have had it since to carry out tests, they still have it and never did tell me any findings, 2 week ago they offered me a brand new bike, I declined this due to that possibly having the same issues. I’ve spoke to quite a few RS owners recently and all have said they have issues at times with 456th gears, my advice take the thing back to dealer , this is a big issue with the RS and triumph aren’t willing to admit it just yet. Anyway Last week I was fully refunded. Thank go for that I will never own a triumph again .
