Funnily enough I am in a similar dilemma. I have a street triple and I'm 6ft2 so ever since I bought the little 675 I've always been borderline too big for it. But last year on the NC500 run in Scotland I started to have a lot of pain in my hips after a days riding. To the point of nearly falling off the bike one we'd stopped. So I've been looking at the Speed triple as I thought it's a bigger bike and surely more roomy. But after a short test ride on the Speed triple rs in September and then a sit on one last week, I think the Speed is more cramped than my 675. So maybe I need to test ride the twin instead? I tried the Scrambler 1200 last week and did really like it, but I do wonder if I'd miss the pure scratching ability on one of those.... Decisions, decisions.....
If we decide to go for the speed twins both my partner and me will have one each, she has a street triple r at the moment and like me is looking for a little more comfort, the speed twin is well worth a test ride as far as comfort it's far better and the handling is really good backed up by a really grunty motor, it's not a 120 MPH plus bike like the triples are but i think i can live without the top end rush as at 62 i'm not getting younger lol
Any comments from owners on tank range for the Speed Twin yet? Just curious as it has quite a small tank....
That's exactly what I thought the first time I saw one, pic that is. I have yet to see one in the flesh. I'm smitten with this bike.
Should be able to top out to the Rev limiter in 6th, my Thruxton R indicated 135mph on autobahn last year (even before its re map). My arms are now 5cms longer
Thanks for asking Andy. Got back from holiday at the weekend and popped in to see if it was coming this week. Been delayed now until 20th April, well pissed off.......
Just a sorry, it would not be so bad had they said it would be late April, but I’ve had four different dates now. Don’t think it is the dealers fault; it is Triumph. Hey ho..... Hopefully it will be here soon.
Agreed... based on the ride reports I don’t think I will be disappointed and all the delays will soon be forgotten... lol
Not butting in but had the same with mine...ordered 22nd Feb and keep getting bumped later and later. 'Next week sir...ooh no, next week sir'
I need mine for a trip to Holland on 15th May, so if one of you gentlemen would step aside and let me have mine first, I would be very obliged.......
Hi I'm affraid that you have absolutely no chance, but a good thought . Good luck on your delivery though .....
I'm just being a pain to the dealer with regular calls and emails....need to vent frustrations somewhere. I'll put up a picture when it arrives...maybe as a Christmas card..!
Yes, I know it's not the dealer. To be honest I know they're as frustrated as I am. Dealership, Total Triumph in Taunton are chasing as hard as I am. I just think Triumph under estimated the demand maybe. Oh well, all good things come to those who wait.
Another Street Twin debacle in the making? My local dealer's frustrated about them not showing up as well..... A useful little tactic, if you hear the dealer has some coming in, tell them if yours isn't in that delivery you'll cancel the order. Hopefully, if it isn't, they'll switch it with a more patient customer's bike. I did this once quite a few years back with a Suzuki and it saved me an extra months wait.
