Yeah, true but if i bought the bike with only 3500 miles on it expecting it to be in good running shape what reason would i have to do engine work?

You might of fancied having a look.
Your not proving your innocence, your proving their guilt. So thats not helpful.

I dont like being on the wrong end of a bad day, either, mate. Keep looking for the replacement engine, and ride out the other side of this setback on your working bike.

It seems all the engines for sale are in the 2k range and i wouldn't doubt I'll have to pay half of that for someone to install it. Also does the entire engine need to be replaced in this situation or is that something i need to get looked at by a professional?

You lot are too nice - I would hound down previous owner to assist in repair cost. That sealant is not a skilled mechanic job. I once purchased a bike (hornet) from vivo moto - similar repairs and damaged case - trailers it back and insisted on full refund. Minor drops will not cause this heavy damage. Do you have hpi checks in your area?

Yes your engine is totalled. You have to change all you carb bodies and electrics. Most dealers sell engines without the stator so you will use your own but haggle for the best deal you can get. The 675 is piss easy to swap over. Just take a look at it and you will see how easy it is. My boy changes his engine within a couple of hours and the bike is up and running again. When you get an engine try to get as much history on it as possible. And do get it checked over at your local dealer. Wish we were closer I would come and lend a hand.
    Regards
    Joe.

I'm sorry I'm not the most mechanically savvy when it comes to bikes could you explain what a HPI is?

Also are we sure that goo from the crank/engine case is from a previous engine job and not something that could possibly happen from the 2 super minor drops on the bike?

Yosh loads of bits you can sell like clutch kit gearbox cylinder head if not damaged race boys like those to have race prepared. Cases sell well if you don't need them for the donor engine. But the bits you have will not fits Rons bike totally different beasts.

Not worth pursuing you will get no where. You dropped the bike and it dissipates at least two thirds of the oil into the exhaust. So no I think you are just going to have to man up and grin and bear it.

Ok great i'll definitely keep everyone posted here on what can go as far as the engine goes but i asked about the speed triple because i seen for sale on ebay and I though i read somewhere that the engines from a couple of the Triumph motorcycles can have engine fitted in them from other models. I thought the speed triple or Street triple's engines could work with a Daytona.

Hpi is a history of register of the bikes past, accidents, finance etc. In the UK if a bike is sold that has a hidden past - there is a path of recourse.

I would go with the exact engine, you dont need the hassle of finding something incompatible that wasnt bargained for when your 90% complete. This is a replacement ,not a custom build, isnt it?

Yeah i figured. More than likely I'll open a insurance claim to help eat the $2000 it'll be to get a new engine. Is it possible to just buy an engine straight from Triumph for this kind of issue? I'd hate to get fuked over again buying something second hand.

Yosh most of the 675 engines are interchangeable. But check them as I believe there were minor changes on the later models. Oh and HPI is a hire purchase agreement.

Triumph won't sell yo an engine you would have to use a dealer. Get a good dealer who cares and you will be all right .But the price might go up a little.

Yosh as to the engines you will find you had the Daytona which is the higher tuned engine. The others are down a bit in power you have got used to

Second you on that one. I know I say my boy changes engines over like he was part of them. But then he knows the bikes and races them and is always taking them in and out. Ron has the skills needed and on Ron's part he has a great big heart. What a great Guy.
