Ok! On the back of the cafes thread I’ve started putting together a point of interest map with the locations of the cafes. Now what I’d like from you guys is a name and location of a cafe that’s good and suitable for bikers. Doesn’t have to be a biker dedicated one but one that is easy to pull in to if out for a ride or touring. So no twee tea rooms with doilies or pubs/restaurants. I’ll cover Uk, Eire for the moment maybe get to Europe later. Please just put in name, location and brief description any banter can be put in the cafes thread. It’s going to be time consuming so can you check the thread and try not to duplicate. Your help will be appreciated. Cheers
Crispey you’ve put no Tee rooms or Pubs/Restaurants what about roadside burger bar type places or the ones you sometimes get on bike dealers forecourts. I don’t use them, rather have a proper cafe.
I’m not going on culinary style or architecture as long as it fits the bill of being able to pull up on your bike wether out for a ride or touring preferably popular with bikers. Not the sort of place where you have to leave your bike in a public carpark and walk down the high street to get a pot of tea for 2
Hi Crispey, there’s good cafe in Burnham on Crouch Essex, called The Cabin Dairy Cafe and Tea Rooms. It’s on the B1021 in the High Street, it's a great ride out, what we call ‘doing the bends’ cos there’s a lot of bends before you get into Burnham, there’s enough room for about 20 bikes out front and loads of parking along the quay, I’ve been over there when bikes have parked along the footway. Great food and service all served with cracking bits of crumpet!! Great views over the River Crouch and can walk your breakfast off after!! Toilets in the cafe and along the quay.
Tullybanocher Cafe it's on the A85 just outside a place called "Comrie" we stopped there last year on the Scottish road trip,if you like "Cake" they give huge helpings plenty of parking space,i think we will be stopping there again this year https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Resta...r_Cafe-Comrie_Perth_and_Kinross_Scotland.html
"The Clachaig Inn" Glencoe, love this place great food, stunning location, just off the A82, popular with bikers, hill walkers and tourists. they have seats outside and 2 bars/resturants inside... https://clachaig.com/ The Boot Bar ..i usually sit outside as it's normally sunny when i'm there although the last time me and @andyc1 where there it was raining so we went in The Boot Bar
Are you looking for names IN ADDITION to those already mentioned in the other thread or do you want confirmation of those in the other thread that aren't "twee tea rooms"?
In addition please, but to save you trawling through that post I don’t mind if they’re repeated here. I can sort them
Ah, OK. Thanks Crispey. THE FOOD STOP cafe, on the A442 at QUATFORD just south of BRIDGNORTH. Post code WV15 6QJ Plenty of parking, very biker friendly but not at all intimidating if you're with family. Good, simple, inexpensive food and plenty of seating space inside and outside. A real, old fashioned, unashamed biker's cafe.
Rode past this one the other day near Netley (Southampton)- it was closed so can't vouch for the food or cake! Not the most attractive of locations but I'm OK with that.
The Tollhouse Grill & Bar in Dalwhinnie just off the A9 https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Resta...r-Dalwhinnie_Scottish_Highlands_Scotland.html
@crispey I'm a little confused as to what was wrong with the original Cafes thread for you to glean the information from mate. Seems to me all this has done is move the posts on to another thread with the same intentions
@Helmut Visor I wanted a new one so it didn’t have the clutter of DD giving cardiologists a reason for living. So basically clean of crap so I could record the cafes onto a map I’m producing. Sorry I thought I’d explained that in the first post but then again I should have realised no one reads the instructions here *edit
couldn't you just ignore the crap and just looked at the cafes! what kind of map are you producing? is it one we can look at online
The Hungry Highlander in Braemar (A93) popular with bikers, they have a few seats inside but plenty of seats outside, cheap and cheerful https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Resta...ighlander-Braemar_Aberdeenshire_Scotland.html
@crispey mcn have been doing a feature on biker cafes for the last few months,i was going to throw some of my old mcns out ,but i wasn't sure if you have them or not,if you don't i'll look through them and post them up
Bull Beck butty bar just outside Caton, Lancaster. It’s run by a great couple and their family and is very popular with bikers as it’s next to a lay-by and picnic area on the A683. A great place to get a brew and sausage & egg butty and chat to other bikers.
