Put the clip on bare metal on frame, then stick spike into wires, if it lights when the ignition is on, and goes out when ignition off, there it is.

 

String, on the previous Tigers generation 1&2 the most popular place to wire a Sat Nav to was live to horn live, earth to horn bracket fixing bolt to frame.
Unfortunately on the new models (generation 3) your sat nav wouldn’t work wired to the horn.

Your right but it’s got a sharp pointy bit on the end and if String is like a few on here then he’ll be a danger to himself
