As the person is unable to read my non-verbal communications from the typed word, emoticons allow the writer to communicate that it is being said in a humorous manner, as I did. Do you tell jokes with a stern face? Do you not laugh along? rather than laughing at your own joke

This takes on a different meaning when the emoticons are changed. That's why I use them, as I can, come across as harsh and blunt, I have been informed. Ad I find them useful to keep people from taking offence, as they too easily can. I know DD wouldn't take offence as he knows I'm a sarcastic twat, but this might not be true of all.[/QUOTE]

So, we're suggesting, before we post in this thread that we use the search function to ensure no repeats ??

The number of times we have had the same joke ( woman walks in to loads of flowers and caption 'He's bought another bike', etc), how do we search for that ????
