We received at least 5 nuisance calls yesterday, some silent and a couple where you could hear the chatter of a call centre. In the evening my wife picked up another one claiming to be 'David' from the phone company (but not specifying which phone company). "I'm calling you this evening, madam", said David, "to see if you would like to get rid of all the nuisance calls".

I'm probably the only person who can get my wife to lose her temper (she's annoyingly up-beat), but David came very close, judging by how the receiver was slammed down!

Nice quote from the late Jeremy Hardy: "I like to be self deprecating... But I'm not very good at it."

Use by callminder at home and recommended it to an elderly neighbor. She kept getting calls from charities asking for donations. Seeems she had got added to a sucker's list
    Not one unwanted call since

I've had a few calls about an "accident". When asked about it I tell them that I crapped in my pants.

When they call just say "I'll just get him/her", turn on really annoying music then put the receiver down next to it and walk off ..... see how they fecking like it!

I am not sure it is still the case but at one time I was told that if you do this & don't hang up then it ties the annoying twats line up until you put receiver down, could be urban myth, anyone know?

I checked my BT add-ons, and have Call Protect (I think it was) active, and the description is that it prevents nuisance calls. We don't seem to get calls from charities any more, but the foreign call centres and spam recorded message (usually warning of BT disconnecting the line or technical problems) are still getting through.

In fact my wife just received a call "from BT" that she said was so bad, it made her laugh.

I have a BT TruCall phone. If someone call that is not on the list you have put in the caller has to announce who they are. Spammers do not do that, well at least on mine they have not.If it is a genuine caller it will say "Announced call" on your phone. You pick up the phone and they say who they are. If its an old mate or whoever and you want to talk you hit number one. If its someone you do not want you just hit the Block Key. Or 4 to send it to your answer phone. I have heard my phone make a beep noise hundreds of times and thats a spammer that did not follow the call minder rules and has not got through. Best thing I have ever bought. Except for the Bonny:)
