There won’t be any before and after because first off, I haven’t ridden it yet and secondly I’m removing the discs before I ride it. I was going wait but my mechanic said I should remove them before I start riding it. Something to do with the ECU learning it from the start. I don’t think it matters at all really. Everyone says it isn’t really any louder with them out, just deeper at low RPMs. Plus it doesn’t affect the air/fuel mix either, so I think it’s a no brainer.
It is a no brainer - but your mechanic isn't telling you that you that you can do a 'Reset Adaption' very easily, to compensate for changes that you make: Reset adaption: From cold, start without touching the throttle or any controls. Run for a minimum of 12 minutes after the fan comes on, and the ECU will adapt to the engine. This has been posted many times, but it's very easy to overlook

That’s why I don’t think it matters at all. Plus, I want the best sound possible out of the arrows without being too loud or losing torque. From your posts and others, it leads me to believe this is the best way to go. Thanks again.
Hi team. Bike is about to arrive & bits n pieces have been purchased to add. Next step will be to remove the silly disc from the mufflers. My question is, for those who have done the baffle removal, what size are the black pop rivets in the end cap? For some reason I can't seem to find them anywhere here, so I'm thinking I'll get them organised before I tackle the baffle removal. (yep, pretty sure that will follow the disc removal) Cheers in advance.

Quick question, I was having a look tonight at removing a muffler. How much of the plastic parts around the seat have to come off? It looks like the nut under the seat that holds the muffler to the hanger is spot welded inplace and needs to be accessed from the inside of the seat area. Is that correct?
Hi, Just the two plastic side pieces have to come off to gain access to the hanger bolt. It's just a case of undoing all the Allen head bolts under the main and pillion seats. Hope this helps..
Hi I removed my baffle from the low boy, First remove the can, then drill out the pop rivets holding the carbon end cap on, you will then notice the baffle has a bead of weld around it, this needs to be ground down about 3mm to remove the weld bead, i used a belt sander to keep it flat, then put a bit of broom handle up the inlet of the can a tap out the baffle, when it is out, clean the weld end up with a file, refit the carbon cap with pop rivets refit can and enjoy the sound
Evening folks, I'm thinking about removing the baffles on my 2016 R. I was just about to buy some black rivets in preparation for the job and noticed that mine is fitted with copper coloured rivets? Is that the norm?
Use black ones mate, those make you look at a rivet instead the great cans & carbon fibre. Also in the pics they just look like rusty rivets. Just my opinion of course
Just in case anyone is wondering why taking out the dreaded disc in the mufflers doesn't make a huge sound difference, it's because there are plenty of other holes in the tubing in that first chamber of the mufflers. Sure that disc doesn't help matters as the gases would run straight into it, but they would then flow around the chamber escaping through the other holes in the tubing. That's why removing the baffles makes a much bigger difference, as the gases aren't 'trapped' in the muffler & have to flow back down the muffler to make their way out the long tube. Don't get me wrong, I still removed that disc!

Glad you found it helpful Plenty of people appear to have used the hole cutter method with no issue, and I think the 41mm version (rather than the larger 43mm) cuts more easily and cleanly, because it sits just inside the rim of the baffle tube. Take it slowly and steadily and those discs will be history
I knew I had to do something as I was alongside my mates vfr 1200 and I couldn’t hear mine. The embarrassment was something I shall never, ever forget. I apologise people!
