I go over a couple of times every year, been lots of times, going again in may,i would start by going over from fishguard to rosslare, follow the road through waterford down to Kinsale south of cork. Then round the coast [n71] to Bantry bay, killarney is lovely and left from there onto the Dingle peninsula for some great views, follow up the wild atlantic way brilliant scenery for hundreds of miles, west of limerick on the coast [the cliffs of moher] are one of the best cliff views i have ever seen, galway bay, westport is lovely, around the coast road to sligo up to donegal, left from there takes you to the highest cliffs in europe [slieve league]follow the coast road around to letterkenny and into northern ireland, southern ireland kph and petrol is cheaper than diesel, northern ireland same as here BEWARE of the extra ethanol fuel in southern ireland makes the bike run terrible cut out and has a job to start in some cases.follow the coast road to coleraine and enjoy the antrim coast taking in the giants causeway and the rope bridge then get the ferry back from larne.

I would beg to differ on the petrol being cheaper than the diesel, if only it were I'd be a happy camper.

Also "Extra" ethanol ? very odd not in my experience, but dont mind me I only live here :p and none of my Trophy's have any issues with the fuel here nor anyone else I've ever spoken to.

I am quoting from my own experience using new bikes,i have experienced the poor running and a vast drop in mpg on at least 4 different makes of bike.

Strange I have never experienced those issues, but then again I've only been here 27 years, 2 Trophy's, 2 Yamaha's & 1 BMW and god knows how many cars. Maybe I'll find out as I stay here a bit longer.

Both UK and the Republic require up to 5% ethanol in petrol. There should be no practical difference......

I know and there isn't but there are some places where you can only get the EXTRA ethanol which has 10 or 15% this is what i experienced nr dublin airport,1st it really had a job to start, wouldn't accelerate properly and down by 20mpg i ran it near empty and put some super unleaded in in northern ireland and all was back to normal, this is just one instance where only the extra ethanol was available.

Opening and closing times for petrol stations can be very similar too especially on the west coast
